This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

A Remorhaz

This one I'm actually tempted to use in a game, I could be it quite a shock for players walking through a winter environ to have this thing just sudenly shoot up from under the ice

A Roper

and a Rust Monster

Dr. Ink'n'stain

Mr. Roper looks so jolly! He just wants to give you a hug - and a kiss.

That Rust monster though.. Now i'm imagining a swarm of newly-hatched rust monster nymphs, scuttling towards you. They might be tiny, but they'll pounce on you en masse and when they have feasted through the thin metal skin you thought would protect you, they find out that you have delicious, delicious iron in your blood as well...

I've never use a rust monster. I always thought they were something that created a very specific type of fear for D&D players as they would eat away their precious gear accumulated, maybe even a way to deal with magic items the DM had second thoughts about letting the player have. I'm not entirely happy with my interpretation. Though they have been presented as more bug-like from 2nd edition on, the original illustration made them look more like a weird cross between a dinosaur and armadillo.

The Roper is one of my favourites. He could very easily stand in for a Beast of Nurgle in a Warhammer game.

If you google "bearman"you can see the inspiration for that pic, but I must highly warn you to have Safesearch on before doing so: apparently that term means something in the gay community I hadn't anticipated

I find that endearingly innocent.

I found a plastic rust monster last week at a thrift store. One of the type that originally inspired Gygax. I am quite pleased. I've always considered the rust monster a sort of meta-monster. One aimed at the fears of the player as well of those of the character.
