This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Oh, I thought the Pundit was talking about himself, and I was wonedring why he was posting that in this thread instead of in the discussion forum he made for himself. Ah, I get it now, he was talking about abzu. That makes more sense.

Quote from: Mr. AnalyticalHow do you know he was corpulent?  Were you watching him through a glory hole?
... ... ...I heard the "heavy weezing of a corpulent lawncrapper gamer as he tries to walk up a half-flight of stairs", noise....

...then I looked down (to the stall next to me) to make sure that the dude was alright, not having a seizure or heart attack or something (I didn't guess "public masturbation" at first), and saw the thick, meaty calves wobbling and shaking, loose flesh spilling over a pair of socks in extra-wide shoes.

There was a cowboy hat on the floor.

And the noises that were made. Goddamn.

That's about as deep as I can go without curling up in a ball and crying.

You know, I could make pithy comments on your counting skills here, too, but I think you've suffered enough.

I've been down a path that only few have tread.

Few no the pain of a man taking a shit at a public convention while next to a stall occupied by a corpulent, loud masturbator.

It sometimes taints my words and makes me say such hurtful things. Forgive!

That is the sweetest con story ever.  I can't stop laughing.

And yet you go to COMIKET?!!?  You, sir, have learned no lesson!

we need rockstar rpg designers...
the world needs rockstar rpg designers...
rpgs need rockstar rpg designers...
how else would we ever get them unless they start demanding they be treated like rockstars?  i'm serious.

I avoid the bathrooms there unless I really need to go. At least in Japanese toilets you don't have any chance of seeing any part of the person next to you. And usually the folks are too busy buying their lolita-porno comics to waste the time jerking off to them. :)

Plus, you can find some really cool homebrew stuff in the RPG section of the Comiket (Saturday Only, in the one hall, approx 100-150 tables): Most of it is fan translations of English games into Japanese, or replays, but ever once in a while you'll stumble onto a fan-made GURPS supplement (GURPS High School Apocalypse, GURPS Gundam) or complete homebrew game (Like the romance-comedy game that uses the Call of Cthulhu system as a base, especially the Sanity Mechanics).

QuoteAs someone who has driven 3 hours to get to a con, ready to run panels and games, only to find there are like 20 people there and the organizer is too busy having a mental breakdown to do anything, it isn't fun.
How`s that different from when I drive 3h to get to a con with ready to run heavy prepped sessions and a workshop?

I'd have thought UA's Madness Meters would be much more appropriate

ZING!

In Pundit's planet, D20 influenced the design of games that were written 20 years before D20 was created. And it's a progressive and innovative system, that introduced several important traits (unified mechanics, skills lists and shit), even though that were standard 20 years before, but no one had noticed until D20 did them.

And the sky is pink, and nobody buys any other game than D20: that's why we must be protected from the irrelevant and unknown hordes of Swine that threaten to destroy our hobby, though according to the Pundit, nobody knows them and nobody plays their games. So we must be protected from the Threat of the Unknown and Irrelevant Game Designers that Don't Sell Games. Or something.

Regarding the OP: man, I can't see where the aggravation is. So, let's assume the worst case scenario and that Luke is really a prima donna and whatnot. So what? It's his problem, not yours. People is really determined to get pissy at things. I couldn't care less about the behavioour of a game designer, or artist, or whatnot, when it comes to enjoying their product. If I like the game, I'll buy it even if the designer is a moron. If I don't like the game, I'm not playing it even if the author is the nicest guy ever. Why care about that shit?
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

Well, it would make a difference for me if you were in business and were hoping to make some money off the trip. But again, it seems you are willng to make a stretch to provide for the con, so maybe they could give you a hand too.
Running: Dogs of WAR - Beer & Pretzels & Bullets
Planning to Run: Godbound or Stars Without Number
Playing: Star Wars D20 Rev.

So Luke should pay more for his GMing? I think this goes to far. he´s providing  a gaming possibility, so he´s alread contributing.

QuoteBut again, it seems you are willng to make a stretch to provide for the con, so maybe they could give you a hand too.

But then I and Luke would be treated the same again. He explicitly wanted to be treated not "like a regular GM".

I think Luke's demands are a bit silly, but I can think of at least one way in which he really isn't a regular gm.

He's a guy demoing a system that is for sale, that is different to a guy who is just there to run a game.

Whether that means he merits special treatment I'm not sure, but it is a difference.

I personally don't see how a guy trying to sell something that not many people even want should get special treatment.
