This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

OSR, Forgie, Old School,New School, who gives a shit.  If it's roughly compatible with any form of vaguely D&D game, and you like it, post it here.  Include why it's good and who makes it.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Off the top of my head I can't think of one, but this should be a cool thread.
If this thread dies before the rpg site it self we have all failed.

Apparition

Starships & Spacemen Second Edition - Basically a Star Trek: The Original Series game with the names and serial numbers filed off, using the Labyrinth Lord ruleset.  It's worth it just for the random alien forehead table alone.

Basic Fantasy - Never played it, but I own a hard copy of it.  It uses a B/X Dungeons & Dragons baseline with ascending AC and separate races and classes, and I wanted to use some of its adjustments with Starships & Spacemen.  Basic Fantasy has a lot of support available.

DavetheLost

Apes Victorious Goblinoid Games presents Planet of the Apes, 1970's style, Labyrinth Lord based rules. I like it because the future history has 1970s astronaughts leaving Earth in near light speed craft, a nuclear war, and all the other PotA tropes.

Tip of the hat to the OP who posted the link in another thread.

I approve of this list. It contains my next purchase, too, the Five Ancient Kingdoms;)!

But it doesn't have Dark Sagas, Dungeon Questing and Tales & Legends which you can find on the page of MHGames and it doesn't know that the Crimson Blades is on its second edition, so there's something to be said about this thread, too:D!
