This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.
The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.

On a serious note, The real risk of AI currently is that it will be leaned on too heavily for clerical and bureaucratic work so that humans loose contact with their own record keeping.  That can lead to all kinds of issues when a dumb computer is gatekeeping essential information and the human requesting it can't convince the computer that he is authorized to get it.
Not only that, Machine Learning isn’t really good at innovation… we’re still going to need people with the expertise and experience to be able to push the envelope.

The problem is that many of the jobs people need to gain that expertise and experience are the jobs Machine Learning is most able to replace… effectively chopping off all the bottom rungs needed to train up the replacements for the current generation of experts and innovators.

That’s going to cause a lot of chaos and unnecessary pain down the line. Probably not civilization ending, but way more than if corporations had interests beyond immediate profits and power.

Tyrants love stagnation though. It keeps them at the top and others from having the opportunity to rise.

This is how you know leftists are tyrants. They love to go on about how capitalism is bad for creating these situations, then in the next breath they’re sucking corporate dick.

5:20 mark:
I'm a middle aged guy with a lot of free time, looking for similar, to form a group for regular gaming. You should be chill, non-woke, and have time on your hands.

This is how you know fascists are just honest socialists/communists, they admit it will require tyranny to achieve their goals while their brethren lie about it.

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

*Ballistic missiles that can kill you from another continent*
"This is fine."

*A computer program that can pretend to have a conversation with you*
"NUKE IT FROM ORBIT... It's the only way to be sure."

Why people want the government to ban AIs is beyond me, do you literally never learn? Will the AI be banned from government use? No. How about billion dollar corporations? No. How about in foreign nations that wish we were destroyed? No. Just peasants then? Yes.
