This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: The Good Assyrian;262542Not many people realize that the famous Red Scare of the 50s was actually not the first in the United States. There was a major cultural angst about Communism in the 1920s as well, and it is reflected in the popular fiction including the pulps

Can you cite examples?

Specifically examples that support your statement "The Reds were fanatics bent on destroying our way of life, had infiltrated every level of society with their agents and dupes, and had foreign accents. They even used the leather-coated secret policeman schtick before the Gestapo!"

Because honestly, I know quite a bit about pulps, and I don't think those tropes showed up until after World War 2.
