So, this is a thing; DH2e beta .pdf now available, with your $20 purchase also giving you $20 credit towards the final .pdf when released later this year.

No word on rules for Dark Eldar yet. And, we've discussed this "paytesting" concept in previous threads, so... yeah. You either know if you're interested in that or not, but it evidently works for FFG.

Anyone interested in this, or willing to buy it and comment? Apparently they've loosened up the quite strict career structure of DH, and went to something looser, like Black Crusade's?

I'd like to first get the obvious out of the way:

FFG you bloody ruthless bastards.

Honestly, it's not enough you split the universum into minigames, now you reset the bloody thing?

I mean, we're talking about Microsoft levels of "villainy" here.
Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

They claim to not be planning 2nd editions of any of the other games in the line, but on the other hand a year from now Rogue Trader will be exactly as creaky and well-worn as Dark Heresy is now. How is it consistent to decide you're going to update DH now and not at least have some plan in place for deciding when Rogue Trader needs a similar touch-up?
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

Well, DH is the oldest, and the system has diverged more since FFG took it over, so DH is probably the one that "needs" a new edition the most, to bring it in line.

On the other hand, I don't believe for a second that nobody has said something like "So, what about Rogue Trader in this system?". There's maybe nothing written for RT2, sure, but that's not the same as saying it isn't being thought about.

I'm excited about this.  I've always been leery of Dark Heresy because of how crunch heavy and imbalanced it is.  I'm not paying $20 for a beta PDF, though.

I saw their blurb on Facebook.  Looks like FFG got their 2nd edition ideas from Mongoose Traveller's core rulebook.  DH looks interesting to me now.  But I already have MgT.

This is cool, dark heresy is the game that Intrigues me the most. But I've always been put off by people saying the system is not as refined as the later Games

So cool. Not $20 for a beta cool but cool nonetheless.

I always hear that Rogue Trader has more your character can do than Dark Heresy.

I'm not overly fond of FFGs beta program...

But, I will be the first to admit DH needs a serious overhaul and I am glad to see it is getting it. I'm also glad they are keeping the Percentile dice mechanic instead of going to the shitastic Specialty Dice of Warhammer 3e and Star Wars...

I'm curious how much of these changes though are to write Pramas out completely? They are moving the location to another Sector entirely? What? Seems odd, I thought the setting locale for DH was really well done.

It's possible they're dumping the Calixis sector simply to give the new line some draw for the 1E die-hards - making old material usable with the updated system cuts both ways, after all.
