This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

With everything from Warhammer to Tekumel getting an update in recent years, it strikes me as a bit of an oversight that GDW's Dark Conspiracy hasn't made a reappearance. It had some really whoop-ass monsters (the Pale, for example) and a lot of atmosphere. The game itself was used the basic system GDW used for Twilight: 2000, which I wasn't all that fond of. I'd love to see the setting get revivified.

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

I would like to see something back out for this one, even if it is a a conversion to another system. As you say it is too full of atmosphere to fade away. From what I understand though some of the GDW lines got into hairy situations because of legal fallout from their demise.

Your wish is our command...

In all seriousness, however, I am the lead developer for the company that recently secured the licence to reprint Dark Conspiracy. We are currently reviewing all of the existing rules and revisiting the background.

For more information, and regular updates on our progress, we have a website up at //www.darkconspiracytherpg.info

Thanks,

Wow.  That's pretty cool.  The Col. must be latently psychic!

I never played the RPG, but I always wanted to base off the old boardgame.  That was fun.

Hmm, if I remember Dark Conspiracy right, that will tend to lead towards Things From Beyond crawling out of nonspace to eat him, won't it?

I ran a GURPS Dark Conspiracy game, once (literally; it lasted one session, maybe 2). The setting was quite interesting, but the system . . . eh.

Actually, what really sucked me in were the Mike Stackpole novels.

What will this new iteration of DC use for its basic system? Will it be anything like the old GDW game? Personally, I doubt I'd use it. I like DC material more for its fluff than for the game itself, as inspiration for stuff for other games.
