This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anyone have any thoughts on CthulhuTech?

Trying to avoid setting spoilers I guess but here goes:

Tagers are a product of a ritual found within the Ta'Ge Fragments which allows people to be symbiotically bound to extra dimensional entities.  Simply put, they can shift at will into a form that is sort of like wearing an organic form of power armor.  They are created to combat a corruption within the New Earth Government.

Specifically they combat a corrupt corporation that uses a similar yet darker ritual to create the Dhohanoids, which are completely corrupt shapeshifters.  The big snag is that Dhohanoids are numerous as the ritual to create them is easier, it just completely corrupts the mind of the subject.  However, creating a Tager is a hard process, the extra dimensional entities consume any subjects found unworthy.  Tagers may be more powerful, able to take on a few Dhohanoids at once but they are heavily outnumbered in terms of overall population.

Tager characters do a lot of espionage/infiltration type work as they can't hope to stand up to mecha for the most part and mecha can't really combat corruption being unable to enter many buildings where one might find it.  They have their role pretty much on lock down.  :)

You can find the pre-order page for the Catalyst Game Labs version HERE.  I've been told that the new color copies should be out in October.  The PDF+Book combos are kinda nice allowing me to enjoy my order now while I wait for my physical book.

So...I should only post to threads I find annoying and painful to read? Huh?

So far I'm a third of the way through the pdf and I'm pretty happy with it so far.  The Illustrations are nicely done, I haven't seen a single one yet that I didn't care for.  My only complaint is the lack of a mecha sheet in the back however there are some alternative sheets out there that are rather nice so no big deal there.

One small thing that made me happy is that it has weapon illustrations.  Hopefully they are plentiful.

For those people who are worried about missing Mythos entities, there's plenty of room in the setting for new gods to weigh in on the conflict and send their own breed of minion to join in the chaos.  A no-mans land called The Zone (roughly where Las Vegas used to be before something went wrong) is a mysterious dimensional rip that could be the source for all sorts of mythos critters.

The best part is that things truly are looking bleak for humanity.  Sure technology has reached the highest of dizzying heights but now that we're falling it's going to be one hell of a terrible landing.  No matter how fast our technology works, each new life-saving invention may as well just be another parachute with a hole in it.

The world strikes me as an adventurer in regular CoC unloading bullet after bullet into something that just keeps on coming.  Only now there are armies of investigators, and even though the bullets keep getting bigger it's still just a lot of wasted ammo.

There is plenty of hopelessness to tap into classic CoC elements, but the encounters are often on a world wide scale, and the situation is much more explosive.  Humanity is not the only side to be pulling out the big guns, when you push the Mythos it eats your face.
