SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: One Horse Town;345337WotC hire contracted freelancers as well as per job folk - so a fixed contract of 6 months, 12 months or whatever. So some of the freelancers are actually full-time staff in all but name.

Which individuals would fall into this category?  Any names which are known?

Rob Schwalb, for one, i believe.

In the case of WotC, wonder what the criteria is for determining what names are printed on the front cover of the book, which would show up on Amazon listings.

One could take a wild guess that the names printed on the front cover represents the individuals which did the most writing?

David Noonan's name is on the front cover of several books released in 2009, despite being canned back in the Xmas layoffs of 2008.

- Revenge of the Giants
- Eberron Player's Guide
- Dungeon Delve

That's because it takes up to 2 years to get from product outline to publication.

Quote from: ggroy;345340No Xmas firings is inconclusive and doesn't say anything one way or the other.

One could possibly infer that 4E may be doing awesome if WotC hires more D&D people on staff this Xmas.  On the other hand it could mean something else, such as hiring more staff for designing and marketing a 5E D&D.

Is there any news you would not spin to try and indicate 4e is doing poorly?

I've definitely said when 4e has stumbled, like with the initial launch of DDI.  But, I have never seen you ever even hint that anything is good news for 4e.  Seems like you have an agenda nothing can overcome.

Things weren't any different with me, with respect to 3E, 3.5E, or 2E.  Though I wasn't posting online much during those time periods.

So you tried to spin all news out of WOTC as tending to indicate 3e was doing poorly as well?

Of course.  Same story with 2E.  Same story with 1E Unearthed Arcana.

...Wow. That was awesome. I love it when people aren't hypocritical. And consistancy and honesty in trolling? I almost never see that.

So good for you. :)

The main problem with government is the difficulty of pressing charges against its directors.

Given a choice of two out of three M&Ms, the human brain subconsciously tries to justify the two M&Ms chosen as being superior to the M&M not chosen.

Huh. The things you can find out on the internet.

It was from a Motley Crue documentary from a decade ago on VH1.
