Goblinoid Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the interior artof a new Cryptworld book.

Looks like we've got more monsters, more unsettling powers, optional rules, and more to support this great game.

Just downloaded the draft and plan on spending the weekend digesting it.

Anyone play Majus? Goblinoid did a Kickstarter for it a few years ago, but I never heard anything about the game. It sounded like Mage from WoD.

How do you all feel about how the pledges / fulfillment model?

AKA, you pay $10 for the PDF and a link to buying the book "at cost" which is the 64 page softcover is $4 + $5 shipping via DriveThru (in the US), and I guess tax depends on your state.

From the backer side, does it matter if the book comes from the author or from DriveThru?

Seems much cheaper that way. In the KS (well, Indie Go Go) for Starships & Spacemen 2e, the hardcover was only 90 pages and cost $40...

Link doesn't work for me, found the campaign on the Kickstarter site.

Looks like good fun :)

Whoops - fixed the link. Thanks!

Once I figured out the structure, I kind of dig how they're handling the hardcopy books - I know I'm paying the best price and accurate shipping.

I have Majus, but only got it for more monsters and to add magic-using villains to Cryptworld. The style of the setting is inspired by film noir and features magical cabals fighting over a MacGuffin.

I think it is just win win on all sides. Domestic shipping doesn't end up inflated to cover international orders. Packaging materials are not free either, which is an expense many people take for granted. I don't end up with stacks of books to package and ship, which is susceptible to delays (I have a full time job, a toddler, and another munchkin on the way, free time is sporadic to say the least). Another bonus is you can budget differently as the buyer and use the link to buy the book when it is convenient. Everything small press these days is digital printing, s from a quality perspective unless you order a print run from a shoddy outfit you should be looking at comparable quality across the board. In general "bulk" discounts for digital printing don't really justify the work and cost in fulfilling orders yourself.

So anyway, I didn't invent this model, but it seems like a slicker way to do things for everyone.

Agreed. Backed.

48 hours (or less) to go. I jumped in for the PDF.  I hope the funding will get us lots of cool pics.

Anyone check out the rough draft?

Jumped in, then back out, then back in again for the POD softcover. I figured wth this looks like fun and I liked Cryptworld.
