This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Claudius;335958What I don't get is this: "he was afraid that players would intentionally commit suicide if they didn't like their character just to create another character":idunno:. What's the point of making a player have a character he doesn't like? If you don't like your character anymore, make another!

Well, I admit that I don't agree his reasoning as well.  I think he's more afraid that someone will train wreck his game and story line if they take the suicide route.

It's not really a matter of liking your character or not here, it's more a matter of your character being, relatively, ineffectual in this particular game.   In this particular instance, I like my character but there's been a disconnect between how the character is on paper, or envisioned in my mind's eye, and how he functions within the context of the game, the GM's encounters, and in relation to the other characters in the game.

I dont like the starting at a lower level/power level than the rest of the group. So assuming the player didnt purposely off themselves, just had a string of bad luck of what not. They have to make someone less powerful than the rest of the group? The rest of the group thats going to want to move on to the next objective. Which one would think would be just as difficult as the last. But now instead of having another equal member, they get a side kick? (more or less) Doesnt that penalize the entire group? For no reason besides bad luck?
If a player didnt like their character I would hope they would go to the GM and talk about it. When I GM if a player had a problem like this I try work with them.
