This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

First time I hear of this project, looks interesting - wasn't 4e supposed to have something like this?

And doubly so with French companies. Technological innovations and new ideas galore, but it's the marketing department that fucks it up usually.

Don't get me wrong, I wish them best of luck. But there are 2 big problems with this project:

1) Tablet reliance - I understand they are popular right now, but I do not know if they are THAT popular, especially with the tabletop gaming crowd.

2) Tabletop nature - I don't know about you guys, but part of why I buy a board game, is the fact that it's, well, a board game. I like the texture of paper, the miniatures, all those troublesome counters. Trading that all for tablet is...a bit anti - climatic for me. I saw the use of figures, but I reckon tokens and such will be probably handled by tablet.

Depends what you mean when you say tablet, but as they keep referencing iPads in the site images, then yes, iPads are doing very well. They own some 97% of the market, and if you factor them as a computer or laptop the numbers show them consistently cannibalizing PC and laptop sales, to the extent that in a mere two years they've outright murdered the netbook.

Tl;dr: yes, lots of people have tablets. Enough that more and more gaming companies are releasing digital versions of their board games for iOS.
Bedroom Wall Press - Games that make you feel like a kid again.

Arcana Rising - An Urban Fantasy Roleplaying Game, powered by Hulks and Horrors.
