What with all the "Story Game" hate here maybe not the best place to ask but, who knows?
Using "Forged in the Dark" rules a RPG game based off of "Dungeon Keeper" was created called "Wicked Ones". In it you play as monsters and build a dungeon.
Does anyone know if there is an Adventurer version where a town or keep is built by the "Good" folk instead?
I didn't realize how much I would like that, even if it used "Forged in the Dark" rules.
I suppose I can reskin "Wicked Ones" by why reinvent the wheel if it is already available?
Forbidden Lands does something like that iirc. Like it's cousin Mutant: Year Zero, part of the game revolves around building and improving your home base.
Interesting. Doesn't look like it uses the same basic rule system though.
For fluff you may want to check out Royal Road and its story ''Blue Core'' which is about a benevolent sentient dungeon that does indeed level up and expand. Its a nice take on the point of view of the ''baddies'' who are not that bad.
Dungeon Keeper games showed us how it looks from the monsters point of view. Isekai stories are quite numerous in how cities and guilds are made. Fluff wise its relevant at least.
"a benevolent sentient dungeon" ?!?
I'm thinking that is unusual.
