What the tin says, I'm building some Pulp classes to what I think should be their appropriate build, first of we have

The Magician

Forget what you know about Magic Users, this isn't it, think Mandrake the Magician and you'll be right on point.

Building a OSR Pulp Magician Class:
Tricks, those small magic tricks stage magicians do
Mesmerist, can "hypnotize" enemies with a hand gesture
Illusionist, can create 3D illusions, at every level up the illusion gains a second sense it can affect: sound, touch, smell at 5th lvl the illusion can project heat or cold, at 6th level the other one. At 9th level illusions can cause real damage.
Sleight of hand & Escapist progress as Thief skills
Ventriloquist, the magician can project a voice 10 feet/lvl in any direction he has line of sight, he can make it seem a sound/voice comes from a room/building if he can see it.
Conjure out of thin air, at 3rd lvl the magician can create 1 cubic feet of volume per lvl of any material he knows. Living things disapear in 3 minutes.
Illusion persistance, illusions disapear 1rnd/lvl after the magician stoped concentrating.

Illusion permanence, at 10th lvl the magician can make 1 illusion to be permanent per day, by making a succesfull ST.

This of course is just a very rough draft, but enough to give you a taste of what I'm aiming at, still needs lots of work...

For instance does it need a "high" DEX besides the high INT?

Some of those entries also need working and I might add a "spell" or two dozen more to the list.

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

I'm curious to what you mean by "Pulp" but we can get to that later.

I can see some very easy to abuse things there. Might need to limit the ability to make matter, or else you're going to have PCs sitting around all day and making adamantine. In one of my (non fantasy) games, I limit people who have matter generation/manipulation powers by density. Only the strongest can manipulate supermaterials.

As for illusion persistance...how does that affect spells like say, Massmorph, which makes you look like a tree (or rocks if you're on Athas)? Or invisibility? Maybe have some kind of cost for this power, like permanently giving up a spell slot or it's equivalent. Or until you dismiss the illusion.
I am not X/Y/Z race. I am a mutant. Based and mutantpilled, if you will.

Regarding creating matter, well spoted, thanks. I might be able to fix it with the already built in solution for the other issue you mention. And a material type like you mention.

Illusion persistance: The thing is my magic system uses power points, you can't cast any spell you can't power, except if you have enough HP to help power it and stay alive. And dismissin a spell doesn't give you back your spell points.

As for what I mean by Pulp, the type of magician you'd find on a Pulp of course. More precisely Mandrake the Magician.

Maybe it needs high CHA?

(Mis)directing the attention of the audience is a major part of stage magic, and that would be based on CHA. You could say that real magic whose appearance is based on stage magic is the same, or maybe that the magician forces his will upon the world through his personality. And it would also go well with mesmerism.
Obvious troll is obvious. RIP, Bill.

Yeah, you could make that argument too.

So, I made some progress on a different class, linked the PDF. Behold my "Totally-Not-Tarzan" class, The Jungle Master!
