This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Any rules out there for BRP Westerns? Either house rules or to be bought?

Thanks!

I realise that this may not be what you were asking for, but some years back a good friend of mine ran his Boots & Saddles campaign using the straight Call of Cthulhu rules as-is.  Well, okay, he jettisoned the sanity rules and Mythos skill as unnecessary, but otherwise by the book.

I just recalled something that might be a little more helpful.  There was a Deadlands adventure written by John Wick that crossed over with CoC titled "Adios A-Mi-Go".  Get it?  It was supposed to be a humorous adventure that dealt with the Mythos in the Old West.  Well, okay, the "Weird West".  Here's a very brief capsule review from RPG.net.

I still think that BRP as used in CoC is still your best and easiest bet.  What sorts of things do you want to see the BRP do in an Old West setting? Quickdraw, or "Who shoots first?", is probably important, and I think this can be extrapolated from any of the rules sets fairly intuitively, or developed from a modernisation of the Strike Rank rules from almost any iteration of RQ.  Riding rules will be important, especially performing other tasks while riding, and again I think you'll find good treatment in a number of other rules sets -- I'd look to RQ, Elric!/Stormbringer, or even Pendragon myself.  Terrain and weather rules are covered pretty well, I think, and if you have a copy of Cthulhu by Gaslight, you might be able to extrapolate economy and prices from England to the Arizona Territory.

Worlds of Cthulhu Issuse #2 has western rules for BRP... just get rid of the horror elements...
