This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

[5e] What would you like to see officially converted?

hah!

I meant commercially.

For me gnomes are still those damn short guys who drop you into pits of giant weasels...

Yeah, mark me down for some Spelljammer as well. I'd like to see a hybrid between the original Spelljammer material and Shadow of the Spider Moon, with more of the exotic stuff but less of the silly stuff.

Honestly, I want to see another version of D&D with an in-depth martial arts system, like Oriental Adventures for 1e or Complete Ninja's Handbook for 2e. The 3e Oriental Adventures was a swing and a miss, and Book of Nine Swords was too hard to integrate into a campaign without using the included classes.

5e Modern/Future could definitely be a thing, and then if they converted the Alternity settings, I could run my White Whale in a single-system game-- lately, I've been leaning toward Fate Core as the solution to this.

I think every edition so far has done a conversion of Castle Ravenloft. I would like 5e to not be an exception to this.

Well, in 4E's case, it was at a remove, since it was a 4E-based boardgame rather than a proper module. But the point holds. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it next October.

(Still disappointed we never got the 4E-based Ravenloft standalone RPG they announced at GenCon 2011. Would have been different, from all accounts, but would have been interesting.)

I think that it will be more interesting that Wotc releases conversion books (1st to 5th, 2nd to 5th, etc ...) than they do again what they have already done. Releasing adventures sets in those game worlds can also be an interesting way to update them.

Regarding the possibility of a 5th D&D Numenera, it is extremely unlikely (but I feel that the poster who writes that is also fully aware of this) but I don't think it is difficult to do as a fan project (glaive = fighter, nano = wizard or psionic and jack = thief ; no priest).

The 9th world will easily become an D&D world.

Actually... no, I wasn't 'fully aware' of that until I thought about it for a bit after you said that... then it dawned on me why it might be 'extremely unlikely'. So, yeah, not mentioned out of snark but... DOH!

misterguignol

Quote from: Armchair Gamer;782299The secondary benefit is all of the fun stuff produced by folks like the Kargatane, misterguignol, and Engine of Oracles.

That's awful nice company to be mentioned in; thank you.

Honestly, I was thinking the whole Monte Cook/D&D 5 was in eveyone mind. But it is not a big deal !

And we never know ! Maybe an unlikely change of heart from Monte Cook/Wotc will occur and an official adapation will be released.

Actually, if you wanted to work on D&D 5 Numenera project, I would have help but I know nothing about D&D 5 !

Maybe you could something online but beware, there is a chance that Monte Cook Games will frown upon such an endeavor.
