This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I hope the suit's not pinstriped.

Quote from: flyingmiceThis guy hasn't drunk the kool-aid, even by your own standards. He's been given the razzle-dazzle welcome by the Forge guys, and hasn't yet heard anything negative about them. So he comes here, and instead of giving him a warm welcome, counter-razzle-dazzle and logic, he gets beaten with a baseball bat. Crud! If you want to open peoples' eyes, it's counter-productive to stab their eyes with an ice-pick first. This reminds me of a line from Pogo: "B.O. is our first line of defence. Anyone that gets past that is a real friend!"

That's pretty much my POV in this thread.

Sett, you should cast Dispel Magic on a Charmed PC, not Smite Foe. ;)

Quote from: PseudoephedrineYou guys are getting more and more childish as this thread goes on.

But I've got a great line about how 'if you want to de-geek the hobby, some of you are going to have to become a lot more attractive'
Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

If you don't like them doing it, then don't do it yourself. It's as simple as that.
Running
The Pernicious Light, or The Wreckers of Sword Island;
A Goblin\'s Progress, or Of Cannons and Canons;
An Oration on the Dignity of Tash, or On the Elves and Their Lies
All for S&W Complete
Playing: Dark Heresy, WFRP 2e

That is a lesson that seems to be rather lost on a lot of the folks here.

Thanks, Claudius.  Actually, at this point, I'm really glad I made the post.  It seems that more good than bad has come out of it after all.  And as it happens you guys have tons of great insights and I really appreciate the help your group has offered to me, even some of the folks who at first were so fast to swat me down with the ten-ton fly swatter.  So a general 'Thanks' to the crowd.

OK im a newbie to this site but not a newbie to gaming.

I have been gaming since 85 and have been involved either playtesting or of late more indepth for 10 years.

Reading this thread just makes me wonder what the hell is something like this doing to peoples views to gaming.

War !, WTF !, some people need to get out more.

Dont some of you understand that the RPG industry has always had somekind of negative reactions from certain groups so what is thread like this doing to stop people getting the wrong impressions ?

Forge, small press, main stream - who the hell cares ?, games are games are games are games, need I go on.

OK im involved with the Traveller RPG and all of us old timers know that that has had its fair share of flame wars by the grognards who played it, do we need any thing else that will keep the newer/younger gamers away from the industry.

Rog.
Currently doing nothing.
