This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Just wanted to let the community here know that the Kickstarter for the Spanish language to English language translation of the Aquelarre Dark Medival RPG is now live!

I was just reading some more about the kickstarter and I see it's being run by
"Stewart Wieck", one of the founders of White Wolf. And the translator is none other than Lester Smith of GDW fame.

Lester says he's been in love with Spanish Culture since he was a tween. So to have someone who speaks both languages fluently, is an RPG fan let alone an RPG designer/writer, you couldn't come up with a better team for this project.

Well, they could have invited me to get involved. I fit all of the above plus I've run two campaigns with the game.

Anyways, I did my part: their money raised doubled within 24 hours of my promoting it on my blog.  I've already been promised a review copy for my labours.

What's the "Bravarium" exactly? Art stripped out or text is cut and if so what kind of text is cut?

The latter, from what I understand. One of the updates clarified the differences. Basically, both the Brevarium and the Deluxe versions of Aquelarre have all of the information on character creation, the game system itself (including combat), ceremonies, rituals, and saints. But the other Brevarium chapters have been edited down to just the essentials. That's what is in the Spanish version, anyway; they haven't decided exactly what will be cut out in the English translation.

Basically, the 500-page Deluxe book contains everything you need including all of the setting and historical information while the half-size Brevarium is good for players or for GMs to use to reduce the amount of wear and tear their Deluxe books receive.

Warthur

Here is the update which outlines the specific differences between the Brevarium and the full package.

Lester Smith also has a long history with the game, having reviewed the original for Dragon and concluded that it was an interesting piece but way too black metal for his tastes and not appropriate for the American market. He posted an interesting article here about why he's changed his mind about a translation.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

HMWHC

Thanks for posting the link to that article Warthur. I'm going to check it out right now.

Looks like! 20% of supporters showed up on the last day, they said. I am looking forward to eventually getting a pretty book and a bunch of pretty dice.
