Yes, both sides can be trash heaps in annals history, and sometimes fence sitters can be assholes too. It's interesting that some appear to equate my statement with fence-sitting. I explicitly say that if you're hurting or preying upon others that's a problem. If that's fence-sitting, and if fence-sitting is "bad", then that implies that either these folks believe that preying upon others is ok if "their side" are the predators, or that infringing upon the freedoms of people who are hurting no one is justified if it's "their side" doing the infringing. That doesn't fit the notion of liberty that I think the USA was founded on. I live in rural Colorado. The mountains are a place people go to live how they want, without the expectation of being coddled or the expectation they can tell their neighbors how to live. If that concept of liberty is fence-sitting, well I'll happily sit on my fence with my .243 and advise others to keep to their side of the fence.

I thought the vibe of this thread was celebrating the comeuppance of someone who *didn't* mind their own business but instead took it upon themselves to mind someone else's without evidence. But apparently it's really celebrating the comeuppance of someone on the the other side. I find it hypocritical.

This is a perfect example of illustrating the point of: "Shut up about things you know nothing about."

So, I think more of us should be doing that. I am glad this topic is here and has gotten some attention.

In general, I don't care what people tell me about a writer/designer/creator's past or personal life. Motivations and facts are murky here, and "judge not, lest ye be judged." What I do  care about is the content of the what they have produced.

An author's intent is interesting, but I'll happily disagree with them if I think that what they have actually written is different/contradicts that intent. I'd like it if more of the discussion around these parts focused on game texts and the running of said games.
