This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anyone know anything about this? The Necromancer's Game

Got an email this morning about the Kickstarter, it looks somewhat interesting, but do we really need another version of AD&D at this point? I like Bill Webb and FGG, but I have no idea what this game would offer over something like C&C or S&W Complete.

I like bill webb, FGG, and NG.  I'll support them to see what they have at the lowest level as a PDF and go from there.

It sounds just like any other Kickstarter saying "We've done something different. trust us."

I don't need another OSR RPG gathering dust on the shelf.

Adv Labyrinth Lord fits the bill for me, thanks.
1. I'm a married homeowner with a career and kids. I won life. You can't insult me.

2. I've been deployed to Iraq, so your tough guy act is boring.

I like the presentation, with the Lovecraftian creatures inserted into the medieval style art. That's fun. But yeah, mechanically it looks like just another OSR game. Probably a fine game, but I'm not seeing a unique selling point. Class knowledge checks are a nice idea, but I've been using them for years already. Card decks just a sales gimmick as far as I'm concerned.

The way I see most of the OSR these days is like this: The point of buying OSR games is to try and find the particular admixture of house rules and old-school D&D features that fits your personal preferences and sensibilities. If you've already found it, then there's not much point in buying more. If you haven't, might as well keep looking.  More unique games like Helveczia or Invisible College are exceptions of course, but for standard "D&D fantasy" games that's my perspective.

For what it's worth, I like the idea of selling a boxed set with additional copies of the Player's book. That shows some intention of the game actually being played, which is missing from a lot of Kickstarters.
Playing: Mongoose Traveller 2e
Running: On Hiatus
Planning: Too many things, and I should probably commit to one.

I

I see a lot to like here.  I don't really need another RPG system, but then again, I derive a lot of pleasure from simply reading and owning these things, so it wouldn't be a total waste of money.  And I like that they are currently trying to find U.S. printers and honestly addressed the tariffs without making a political issue of it.  For that reason, I marked this project as a "remind me" -- if the Kickstarter is about to end and they've found a U.S. printer and I can afford it, I may just get this.  Thanks for letting us know about it, Brad.
I know how the illegals feel. I'm an alcoholic & they keep setting up these random DUI checkpoints. You have no idea what a chilling effect this has had on the alcoholic community. I know people who are too terrified to even drink & drive anymore. I am literally shaking... mostly in my hands...

I just backed Castle Zagyg for $230 and because I am an idiot I am now in for $160 on this; my new .357 will have to wait until next month...I'll be sure to review this if anyone is interested when it's released.

A review sounds nice, thanks Brad!

I passed on the Zagyg reprint too, so will be curious to learn more about that project too as it nears completion.

Allan.
