This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anyone have recommendations on space games?

My go-to "space game" is Starblazer Adventures as I am still a sucker for the pulp space opera stories which graced the pages of the Starblazer comic books of the 80s.  It's based on the FATE system and suits the cinematic style of GMing I enjoy.

If a one shot star trek is what you are after then I love playing Lazers & Feelings.

Harder sci-fi I would definitely echo the above recommendations for Mongoose Traveller.

Calling that a game is like saying flying an RC plane is equal to piloting a 747.

It gets the job done and people at the table playing, so I would not pan it for what it does do within that criteria.  I wrote up "It's not my Future!' for the same goals, get people playing quickly.

I hate Woke Hat Productions.
Heh, you can hate the people, but please don't hate the game.  Fate Accelerated Edition is a clean, light weight, fun system, and is pre-woke.   :-)

Same deal with Uncharted Worlds, while it based on Powered by the Apocalypse, it's DNA feels more like Traveller.

So you can't think that the game or the company that publishes it suck?

1. Yes, I can and do think some people and products suck.  I don't care for any of Evil Hat's current products.  But, I played a lot of Spirit of the Century and FAE and they don't have that agenda written into them.  [Hell, SotC is set in a 'very problematic' time period for the wokesters.]  Mechanically, they are good RPG systems and I find FAE to be a wonderful system for modifying and one-shots.  You can get the FAE SRD for free, if supporting the company financially pains you.

2. Traveller is a fine product, but I'm not a fan of their universe.  I'm a classic LBB kind of guy and like to roll my own universe.  So, I'm more likely to use Cepheus Engine or Uncharted Worlds.  At their heart, they're both 2d6 systems but of different flavors.

SoulMuppet has a new edition of Orbital Blues: A Space Western RPG on the way.  I know the pdf is out to KS backers and I think it's up on Drivethru.  The physical book it due late August/September.

I'm hoping to give the rules a go in the next couple of weeks.  If I do I'll post about it.
