This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I've had instances where players could tell I was using pre-existing material and were disappointed. Of course they're the same bunch who have no problem looking up builds and other shit so I didn't care.

curse of strahd even when adapted to another system like D6...i found players get uppity if you changed anything about it, they love that product for some reason and have it memorized and do not like me changing even minor things. i had the original ravenloft module, gave it to my cousin who still plays ad&d, i have a silver anniversary 2e house of strahd module myself, the expedition to castle ravenloft and curse of strahd modules that came later i have as pdfs, can't tell much changed from 2e till now with regard to barovia, seems they just added stuff. Anyway, i changed a few little things last time i used it; barovia became bavaria in the year 1522 and count strahd became count dracula and the whining was so shrill i considered pistol whipping the table into silence. No objections really related to changes involving dracula, the complaints were centered on changes to the module, they were no longer experts who knew the pattern of get these relics then go after strahd/dracula, threw them off, their effort to memorize everything was wasted and i'm a bad person for making it challenging again. whatever kids. hope dracula eats you.

This is not Groundhog Day of Ravenloft, its CURSE of STRAHD :)

Good for you I say!
Common sense isn't common; if it were, everyone would have it.
