This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Novastar;590102I feel your pain.

Moved to New Mexico a year ago, and neither Roswell or Clovis (where I am currently) have a FLGS (Clovis does have a CCG & Wargame store, but no TTRPG).

There's some good gaming groups down in Las Cruces (close to White Sands Missile Range where there are several gaming groups, and UNM in Las Cruces itself... You get to game with Lobos though), and perhaps a bit closer to you, Albuquerque (Several Military bases, should be at least one good gaming store, as well as a couple of Uni's).

Would say Santa Fe on account of the Uni there, but am not really sure about that.
Blackmoor grew from a single Castle to include, first, several adjacent Castles (with the forces of Evil lying just off the edge of the world to an entire Northern Province of the Castle and Crusade Society's Great Kingdom.

Albuquerque's about 3.5 hours away, and Las Cruces even further.
I'm actually closer to Odessa, TX and Lubbock, TX (both about 2 hours away), for big towns.

My biggest handicap is not being able to game Saturdays, honestly.

Quote from: mcbobbo;590046I'm in Rockwall TX, which is on the other side of the lake from Dallas.  I have scouted all the nearest game shops, and there's one over in Garland. But that's a bit far. Not impossibly far, but I want to set this up for success.

Honestly the lack of a FLGS on this side of the lake gives me dreams of opening one someday...

I herald from Springfield MO, and really miss Metagames Unlimited out that way.

I don't know, if I found all kinds of gamers in Uruguay, I'm betting you can find some of them in the great state of Texas.

real world: FLGS, comic book stores, book clubs, movie clubs, acting schools (haven't tested that one yet, but it seems like a possible fit), board game groups, LARP groups/Ren fairs, local colleges

Age isn't so much a problem in itself, but I agree that you need to have a range in mind.  For the reasons you stated, 21+ is probably a good baseline.

Maybe I'll talk to my group and see what we can switch up. Since after all, we  wouldn't mind another player.

To the OP:

As for finding gamers I always suggest chacking both Facebook and Yahoogroups for "Dallas Area/Dallas Gamers" as well as local things close to you.

Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

You are an inspiration. I truly hope I can play games with my grandsons. At least I already have a daughter, first step achieved :D

Absolutely.

Also, I'm 36, I have 2 regular groups, and I don't plan on retiring ever.
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).
