This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

[5e] What would you like to see officially converted?

Yeah, this is me climbing aboard the 5e bandwagon.

I'd like to see a stronghold and domain endgame thingie because I'm a sucker for this stuff. Birthright optional. Birthright was a fantastic setting but I prefer my kingdoms earned.

Dark Sun, pre-Prism Pentad, of course. It happened for 4e so there's plenty of hope.

And whatever settings and adventures they publish, here's hoping they actually put out game-table-ready stuff instead of novel canon guides decorated with crunchy bits.

Sacrosanct

Initially I'm thinking of AD&D stuff, but then I realized that it's really super easy just to convert them myself.  But if given a wish list:

Ravenloft (I never got a chance to play I6, and would like to with 5e)
Night Below (same as above)
D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

Seconding this. My head would explode (in a good way) if they re-hired Stephen Fabian to do the artwork.

I loved playing (DMing, actually) Al-Quadim, it would be a welcome conversion.

Same here. And I may very well do exactly that. Though the other thing that's tempting me are some of the modules for the Companion rules for BECMI: Test of the Warlords, Death's Ride, Sabre River , Earthshaker, The Endless Stair, Where Chaos Reigns and maybe Legacy of Blood.

I could never pry my old group away from AD&D to give any of these a try with BECMI, and they are all just too high a level for me to manage with 3.x, but I think I could pull them off in 5E.

Come to think of it, I may never need to buy another adventure module.

Instead of ruining the past, why not make new stuff?

danskmacabre

I would love to see Spelljammer converted to 5th Ed.

Larsdangly

New good material will be best. But, in response to the OOP, my own sandbox campaign I'm starting up focuses on the 1E pastel modules (plus a few BD&D classics). Basically, I created a ~100,000 square mile setting chock-a-block full of dungeons and other adventure sites (roughly half old modules and half my own new stuff), and rounded it out with diverse wandering encounter and rumor tables. The idea is that players can simply walk out the door and find their own way to any number of major adventures. The steading of the hill giant chief looks a little different when you imagine a group a 1st level characters may well wander up to its gates...

I'd like to see Spelljammer done in 5e and not suck absolutely like the half-assed 3e magazine try.

I know they are going to do Gamma World. Please god dont botch the setting a third time!!!

Id like to see Boot Hill done in 5e.

One Horse Town

I agree with you on Birthright.

Other than that, i'd prefer them to start releasing new stuff, not re-hashes of previous material. I'm not holding my breath though, as i guess that can be seen as a higher risk strategy.

jibbajibba

Don't revisit old settings. By all means do reprints of the old stuff most of it won't change anyway.

I would look to do 3 things

i) Brand New stuff.
ii) MtG plane ports - Ravinca, Innistraad, Mirrodin woudl all be great D&D settings
iii) Fictional tie ins but under the D&D brand not a new system

Okay, if the bandwagon is about new stuff, then I'd like a new Gothic Horror setting to fill Ravenloft's shoes.

I'd also like it to be set in pseudo-18th or 19th century Europe, but whatever.

Opaopajr

Birthright, definitely. Ravenloft and Dark Sun, too.

Oddly, Hollow World, or something akin. There was a hefty bit of zany in there, but enough hex crawl and setting coherence for the cultural isolation that it. just. might. work. Like the Underdark, but not.

Something with fun human factionalism at the fore. Like Lankhmar or Jakandor.

Savage Coast, fun like Hollow World because the setting heavily affects the players as well. Gotta have special metal touch your skin or get mutated! :)

Somewhere else on Forgotten Realms, like Ama Basin, or Katashaka, or Anchorômé, or Land of Flying Monkeys! Who doesn't want to game in the land of flying monkeys? That's like Tiger-headed Opium Nightmare + LSD! It has to be fun!

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

So you want a reboot of Ravenloft's subsetting, Masque of the Red Death. I would too. :)
