In the Spelljammer campaign setting, what was the space-faring version of the "Common" language called? Was this ever addressed anywhere?

Thanks very much for any info.

This ancient Tripod website about the setting states that a conceit of Spelljammer is that the languages are essentially the same between the spheres. Everyone speaking "Common" is speaking Common no matter where they're from, though they point out that Commons that may have a cultural slant (Kara-Tur, I'd think Al-Qadim would apply too), should be different.

That's how I remember it too, though my copy is not handy.

Thank you, JamesV, appreciate it.

I want space to have it's own "Common". I think for my 5e game it will be the Plasma* or Vaccum* dialect of Primordial.

*Yeah I know your fancy science book says these aren't elements. But Rolemaster says they are, so there.

I'd go ahead and call it something like "Voidcommon". I mean they have Undercommon already.

The Mosaic Oracle is on sale now. It\'s a raw, open-sourced game design Toolk/Kit based on Lurianic Kabbalah and Lambda Calculus that uses English key words to build statements. If you can tell stories, you can make it work. It fits on one page. Wait for future games if you want something basic; an implementation called Wonders and Worldlings is coming soon.

Jammeryammer? :D

We played it as a matter of accent differences and variant words for common things that tend to crop up.

One will say goblin, one will say greenskin, one will say fearie, etc.

Since space is dominated by elves I'd say void common would have alot of elven terms mixed in. Even the Scro know elven according to the manual.

Not positive. But think space common was at least once referred to as voidcommon in either one of the books, modules or something. Been ages.
