This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). [5E] Goodman Games to support new rules

Looks like Goodman Games has decided to throw some support into 5E, as opposed to exclusive support to DCC.

QuoteFifth Edition Fantasy #1: Glitterdoom
A level 3 adventure for 5E, by Michael Curtis

Centuries ago, the glitterdoom came to the dwarves of Steelhand Clan! This divine curse transformed the dwarves into hellish forms with an insatiable greed for gold. Now, a chance encounter breaks open long-sealed gates to unleash the glitterdoom again. Can your adventurers delve into the forgotten halls to confront the subterranean menace?

This all-new 5E adventure module includes a new dwarf sub-race and a new PC background!

QuoteFifth Edition Fantasy #2: The Fey Sisters' Fate
A level 1 adventure for 5E, by Chris Doyle

The cries of battle echo in the rustic wilderness, as a pair of fey sisters defend the ancient Briarwood against invaders. When the town of Bur Hollow sends militia men to support their fey allies, they disappear without a trace. The adventurers must enter the Briarwood and save them!

This all-new 5E adventure module includes two new spells and a new PC background!

Both are supposed to be released at GenCon!  :D

I hope this doesn't impact their support of DCC!

I haven't heard, but I suspect it will have some impact as GG often uses some of the same authors for various product lines (for example, Mike Curtis) and those authors can only write so fast.

On the other hand, they had a whole list of new DCC stuff that was supposed to debut at GenCon as well:
1) Goodman Games Gen Con 2014 Program Guide
2) DCC #82.5: Dragora's Dungeon
3) DCC #83: The Chained Coffin module (color, silver, and gold covers)
4) DCC #84: Peril on the Purple Planet module

Some of that stuff duplicates current Kickstart projects, but at least they are continuing to put more modules out.

Don't they own XCrawl? I sort of hope they'll do a 5e version of that setting to go with the Pathfinder update, I liked it a lot.

Pretty sure they do. Well one thing is for sure 5e won't lack for modules if Goodman Games is on the case.;)

As do I... though there is plenty of good DCC stuff coming from other sources as well. From Goodman I'm mostly hoping for a solid greenlight on Mutant Crawl Classics (or whatever it end up being named).
Otherwise I wouldn't mind if they slowed down on the modules and put out a book of new spells and patrons and such.

They do. The Pathfinder one was done first, as I understand it, because the author had already written that version and they wanted something they could release quickly to get XCrawl back in print.

There was speculation at one point that there would be a DCC version, but now I wonder if it would be 5E instead.

Now I'm REALLY curious how 3pp licensing works.
This forum is great in that the moderators aren\'t jack-booted fascists.

Unfortunately, this forum is filled with total a-holes, including a bunch of rape culture enabling dillholes.

So embracing the \'no X is better than bad X,\' I\'m out of here. If you need to find me I\'m sure you can.

I don't think this is licensed in anyway... Goodman also had a line of 4e modules before any licensing options existed.

I'm assuming the content avoids using proprietary terms, as does the cover?

I gotta say I'm a little disappointed, I thought Goodman Games was better than that, rushing out cheap cash-ins.

Then again, they had a lot of crappy d20 splatbooks

How did you get the books and review them so fast? I thought they weren't out until Gen Con?

I really hope this doesn't mean Goodman will be reducing their DCC work; though if it did that would be very telling, as well as tragic.

I really like 5e, but DCC is one of the absolute best OSR games (in a very crowded field of really excellent games).

Based on things Michael Curtis, Harley Stroh et al have said, I don't think they're dialing back the DCC output.
