This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

My only complaint at this news is YAY BACK-TO-BACK EVIL CULTS.

Ah, but these new cultists are elemental, not draconic, so, y'know, that's going to be very very different.

"Well worth reading."  -- Steve Winter

"...seriously nifty stuff..." -- Bruce Baugh

"[Erik is] the Carrot-Top of role-playing games." -- Jared Sorensen, who probably meant it as an insult, but screw that guy.

Maybe if we all visualize it really hard, the second part will come true, too!

Elminster is dead to me already.

Sweet! Now if Vecna joins up, and maybe Iuz, that would be excellent. Reshape the Realms into an Abyssal layer.

Can Elminster ever truly be dead enough?

Why the deuces did they call this thing 'Elemental Evil' if it has no relationship to ToEE?

Because there is a relationship. See link above.

It looks like they are focusing on all gameworlds being in one multiverse. Even the PHB alludes to this. This allows them to flood their new choice for generic universal setting (Forgotten Realms) with content that can otherwise fit in other game worlds, and makes Ravenloft still fit very well.

As I don't care for FR outside of organized play, it works for me. Since I'll have to care about organized play (organizer at my local game store) I still have access to arcs that will work in other worlds, and that works for me too...

With organized using the arcs as one source, but also running encounters, expeditions, and epics as well, we'll have a lot of adventure material, some being drag and drop to any campaign, and some fitting world's like Greyhawk better than FR, I think it works in the long run.

They felt it necessary to have factions that could be used in Organized, so that focuses them on a single game world... Sigil is too broad and yet specific at the same time.... FR makes sense.

If this ends up having the feel of Moorecock's multiverse then I'm all in; if it is a forced bunch of tie ins to D&D novels then I'm out.
