This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

TSR games hurt by D&D?, AKA, the other house systems of TSR

Loved Boot Hill. I GMed a lot of games where the players simply shot it out with the NPCs that were available with the GM screen.

My group made a short foray into playing Star Frontiers, but the fact that there was an entirely separate game for starships was so off-putting to us that we put SF away and played Traveller instead. Now, I'd be tempted to run SF/KH, since it wasn't a bad game.

I didn't cotton too well to Conan when I first got it, back when it was released. Now, it seems like an interesting system I'd like to give another chance.

Gamma World was a big favorite with my group of the early 80s. Fun and weird, and was enough like D&D that we did a lot of crossover games.

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

Mkkay... Them other TSR games I liked alot both played in, and Gmed back in the day.
Gamma Worlds 1st ed.
Metamorphosis Alpha 1st ed
Dungeon -- That TSR Boardgame from 1981. Had great fun with this

I played in a few games of Boot Hill.

In the 80's I kind of got into Runequest, and Rolemaster some, and of course had played Traveller for just about as long as D&D and that was the big competition. That and uhh... Board Wargames.
Blackmoor grew from a single Castle to include, first, several adjacent Castles (with the forces of Evil lying just off the edge of the world to an entire Northern Province of the Castle and Crusade Society's Great Kingdom.
