This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

3D models online
« on: March 04, 2021, 06:57:01 AM »
I just noticed Historic Scotland have put up some 3D models online - including some castles, Pictish hill forts, a Roman fort, and an Iron Age underground grain store.

Also various statues and other objects.

Seems like there are a lot more models on there from different sources too.

Thought it might be useful for DMs in helping players visualise stuff. I haven't tried it at the table yet myself. It might work well for online play.

Yes, this is really cool. I just spent about 5 minutes panning around the Bar Hill Fort. Thanks!

Very cool. Will likely use some of these in my WFRP campaign.

How very cool!

Inquiring minds want to know if these are available as STL (Stereo Lithography) files one can feed into a 3d printer...
