So...anyone else playing this? I am (on PS3) and I gotta tell you, two episodes in and I'm absolutely loving it. Right now, I love it more than the comic series or the TV show...(and the comic series used to be my favorite series).

So what is so good about it? Especially to make you like it better than the comic or TV show.
Don\'t mess with cats we kill wizards in one blow.;)

Well, I've never felt like the show has done a very good job of capturing the feel of the comic book (aside from Rick and Darryl, the cast has been largely unlikable and one dimensional), and the comic has basically devolved into a depressing grind.

Right now, at least, the game is set in the early days of the outbreak, so there's not yet that feeling of the depressing grind that kills any desire to continue on, and the writing (and most of the voice acting) is better than the TV show.

For the game itself, you play a guy named Lee who is being transported to The Prison (for those of you who are Walking Dead fans) when things go to Hell. The game is set over five episodes (two of which are out now, and "season 2" has already been announced), and you have multiple pivot points that change your game from that moment on...from stuff as small as characters echoing something you said in the previous episode, to having to choose between two survivors when you only have time to save one.

The biggest thing that bugs me is that one of the major NPCs in the game is a minor character (but important one) from the comics, and being familiar with their appearance from the comics is definitely painting all of my interactions with them in the game.

Doom

It's uber awesome stuff....not a zombie shooter per se, but loaded with horror. Sometimes you want a game where you can sit back and enjoy the story, but still want to use more brain cells than watching TV.

Exactly.

In fact, I kinda feel like the announced Walking Dead FPS is kinda missing the point, but that's okay...this version will apparently be around for a while.

agreed.  episode 2 in particular had some tense moments, and some hard choices.  I know when a game has me genuinely concerned about whether or not i'm making the right snap judgement, it has it's hooks in...and it's good. ;)

I was kinda leery of the game at first, but have really enjoyed it, and eagerly await each new episode.

Once the whole thing is done, I plan to replay it from the beginning and purposefully make different choices. I don't want to replay the episodes right NOW, though, because I don't want to mess up my "experience".
