This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We found a Traveller game (via a Traveller Discord that I think was posted elsewhere on this site) we're really liking on a Foundry setup. (We tried a 2d20 game, but it wasn't fun at all -- no role playing and combat and skills was all about managing the metacurrency, not about having fun, in our opinion.)

I was wondering which game it was when you said you were trying a Mars game. Yeah, I'm in a 2d20 Conan game, and my experience has been similar. I've got a good group I'm playing it with, so the RP goes on, but the system ends up fighting it as much as helping it along. The more exposure I get to Modiphius products the more I find they're the kings of ideas that sound good on paper, but completely fall apart in practice.

Yea -- we weren't sure how much of the non-role playing was the group/GM and how much was the system. The problem is that you needed so much of the metacurrency *constantly* just to survive or succeed, you couldn't pay attention to role-playing.

Modiphius didn't even sound good on paper to us, but it was a group that was at a time we could play. It has metacurrency that needs to be constantly used and managed and something like three (or six) different kinds of damage track to maintain. Way too much paperwork.

Fantasy Grounds has a Linux version.
You can look through their forums LFG, there can be a lot of 5E, but quite a few other game systems pop up in LFG.
