This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

No...

Oh lord...

I can't stop...

First it was Sonic Lost World, an okay game with poor controls and some poor level design. But when it was good it was good.

So I took another hit.

People said Sonic Generations was good so I gave it a go. And it was actually pretty good. No stupid friends, competent and varied level design, decent controls. All around enjoyable.

Well... Might as well try another...

Got back into Sonic Adventure. Hey! It's fun, sure it's old and there's some dodgy late 90's design and horrible unskippable cut-scenes but overall not bad.

You know, I'm starting the think maybe people are wrong about 3D Sonic...

*weeps*

Why?!

Why must I punish myself?

What sin did I commit in a previous life to deserve this kind of flagellation?

*whimper*

Alright, I'll get to my impressions of Adventure and a recap of Lost World and Generations in a bit but first...

I started Sonic The Hedgehog (Sonic 06).

Impressions through Act 1:

Good lord it's weird to have real people in a sonic game but at least the graphics are alright.

The hub world is massive and all the character models for the townsfolk look horrible. Seriously.

Okay, before you can even play you have to sit through a 10 minute cut scene. Great. Then after the cut scene you have to run around the hub world like an idiot for another 10 minutes to do all kinds of crap before Act 1.

You have to jump through a bunch of hoops.

Literally.

*sigh*

Okay after about 20 minutes into the game I get to Act 1.

It plays a lot like Sonic Adventure. It's open with lots of pre-scripted parts and the basic controls are the same except really, really stiff. The level looks nice at least.

The tails part is horrible. He can fly but is always moving forward, no hovering and doesn't glide down when he gets tired. He just drops.

The speed run, oh sorry "mach speed" section is actually really difficult. He controls poorly and takes so long to recover from any impact (all while still gliding over the ground, BTW) that he almost always kits something else. Ugh.

Okay the glitches. So far I've:

Walked around a loop. Walked.
Clipped through two walls.
Got stuck on a tree.
Been thrown out of pre-scripted sequences, where I have NO control, in the ocean twice.

After that you have to go back to the town, do more stupid shit for worthless townsfolk and then sit through another cutscene and finally fight the boss. It's a giant robot dog that can't do anything. Unfortunately the controls are so bad that you basically have to just randomly press buttons until you manage to get the right sequence to damage him.

Overall it's like Sonic Adventure. Except horrible. Bad controls, bad collision detection, cheap level design and bugs out the ass.

Next up: Desert level. And a recap of Lost World and Generations.

Wait isn't this the same garbage that had Sonic try to get involve with relationship with a human woman?  My fucking god is that game creepy and not even Outlast can out creep that.
