This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

If there was just one computer game or videogame that you would want to see turned into a tabletop RPG, which one would it be?

Also, please include in your answer the reason why you think it wouldn't go the way of the Everquest RPG or the Diablo II RPG; and flop.

So many! But if I had to pick just one, it would be a game detailing the world of Full Throttle, from Lucasarts.

This doesn't leave much for those of us who think our dream-games would flop.

Settembrini

Europa Universalis II. This would end all my gaming wishes. I would cancel my day job, and play it professionally.

mmm... probably i would like to play the Final Fantasy sagas...

as their pretty much easy to transform into an pen and paper RPG...
Also these games have a history that's so rich and deep that i belive that them could turn into great adventures to play with friends each one impersonating a different job (from Dragoon to Blue Mage)

Balbinus

Full Throttle all the way baby.

Fallout would also be cool.

FT probably would flop, but it would still be undiluted cool.

Final Fantasy is a tough one. I can see a game like D&D, BESM or M&M doing the trick, but you'd need some serious tuning.

Two words: MIGHT and MAGIC.
Do I really need to explain why?

Hm, I had forgotten about Full Throttle, after agreeing with you in this thread I checked ebay, bought a copy and it is now on its way to me.

Hurrah for Full Throttle!  Hurrah for S John Ross!  Hurrah for alt.goatse... um, let's stick with two hurrahs actually.

I have an OGL conversion of Final Fantasy kicking around my hard drive.

Unfortunately, I wrote it before I really understood the OGL, and it turns out that it breached the license in a few places, so I can't really put it up for download.

Bear in mind I know fuck all about computer games, I've never as much as looked at Fallout much less played it, but isn't Darwin's World supposed to be really really similar to Fallout?

I don't actually think the Final Fantasies or Fallout would make good official tabletop RPG material. They're made to be videogame RPG's and I don't think they would translate well. It comes down to the fact I would rather play the videogame than play the tabletop game.

However. I'd love to see a Disgaea D20. Have stats all the way to level 1000. It would be mindless fun and take way to long to play. Just like the videogame.

A lot of Lucasarts adventures would be good. The Dig, Secret of Monkey Island.

I'd love to see Bloodrayne.

Grand Theft Auto would be great. I would probably have it use a gritty percentile system like WHFRP or UA, with tactical driving rules. I could also see it working pretty good with Shadowrun style rules. Or maybe WoD but replace Morality with Wanted Level (finally a genre convention for nibble guns!)

I would love to see a Rainbow Six boardgame.
