This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: The ButcherSkyrim looks sexy as all hell, I just felt that maybe a break from the fantasy genre would be nice.

Yeah, it's doesn't attempt anything revolutionary genre-wise - it's a pretty generic fantasy setting, albeit somewhat more Scandinavian than most.

That said, even though it's not presenting anything really "new" setting-wise, its execution is amazing (this reminds me of the "dull dungeon" thread...).  So much so that it usurped Morrowind as my favorite of the Elder Scrolls games, despite Morrowind's setting being far more exotic and intriguing on the face of things.  As an rpg it ranks up with Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate 2, IMO.

Quote from: Patrick;756409Lego Marvel Super Heroes with the wife on PS 3.  Pretty fun and LOVE the gameplay.

That's a great game !
Playing at the moment : Lego Batman 2 and Beyond : Two Souls
Social order at the expense of liberty is hardly a bargain - The Marquis De Sade.

Just finished Link Between Worlds and inFamous: Second Son.  Link was great fun while inFamous was a huge let down.

I'm working though Mass Effect 2 really slowly because, well, it's fucking dull as dishwater.  Don't know if I'll ever get around to #3, but I got the collection as a gift so I feel like I have to at least try.

Someone lent me The Last of Us so I'm also working on that too.  It's good but not the OMG all 10s game of the year great everyone made it out to be.  More like a solid 8/10.

I'm also enjoying Persona 4 Golden on my Vita when I'm not at home.

For MMOs I'm still chugging along on FFXIV.

Blackguards.

Its a dndish rpg, has roleplay elements and heavy tactical hex map battles.

Uses some version of the german dark eye rpg and has tons of stats and skills to learn. You create one pc and gather followers.

Pretty fun so far.

My games were interrupted by the hot new game "Let's move to a new house and paint everything"

It's rather boring and I have serious issues with the pacing.

F-, would not recommend.

Heh.  Sadly, I don't know of any cheat codes to help you speed through it.  Try not to get entangled in the subquests.

Deus Ex 2... not as bad as I'd heard but not scratch on the original.

I'm on hiatus from a bunch that I need to finish... such as the newest Bioshock and Tomb Raider entries.

I just got through Hotline Miami.

That game isn't suitable for, like, anyone. It's a murder-sim straight out of the 80's: huge chunky sprites, lots of screen tearing, everything executed in garish shades of neon.

But the melee combat, oh now that is the thing; it's all in the timing and the distance, but one hit kills (Either you or your opponent, depending on who gets the hit). It's about rapid-fire knife duels, darting in for that quick kill, dashing around corners and hoping there isn't a shotgunner watching over your target. It's about picking your fights, playing smart, and always being in the right place at the right time. It's about planning the next two seconds of bloody violence and then executing it, flawlessly. It's about constant restarts as you learn the best angle to attack the room with a shotgunner, rifleman and two dudes with clubs.

It's a horrible, violent, high-speed mess and you should play it because it's wonderful.

What I've been playing lately:

Star Wars: The Old Republic
WoW (only for Battlegrounds, nothing else)
Wildstar (on the Open Beta, still on the fence about buying it)
Mario Kart Wii (been playing a lot with the kids and The Boss)

I still dip my toe in Age of Conan and Star Trek Online from time to time, but nothing regularly at the moment.

Has anyone tried the Marvel MMO?  I'm curious, and I've gotten used to the F2P model (see AoC/STO/Neverwinter/etc.) but I can't tell if this is more of an Aion/EVE PvP fest or a theme park MMO.

I finished the Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon dlc last weekend, so I've been casually working my way to getting the last two achievements (killing 25 dragons, and owning all the weapon upgrades).

After that, I'm not sure what I'll start on next (all Xbox 360).

On disc, I haven't touched Dragon Age: Origins, and I need to continue with Deux Ex. For downloads, I have Fables (chapter 2) and a couple of other big game downloads like Dark Souls and Saints Row 4.

The next chapter of the Walking Dead will interrupt all of them, though, whenever it releases.

Do you mean Marvel Heroes? It's not an MMO, it's Diablo 2 with an Avengers skin on it.

It's okay, it's a lot better than it was, but it has a ridiculous amount of microtransactions in it. In game, it's fine, there are powers and you use them and bad guys fall over and drop stuff for you, like a street thug might just happen to be carrying a suit of cosmic Iron Man armour and you'll be like "...huh".

So it's kinda fun, but very spendy.

Okay, so it's a Diablo clone more than a WoW clone. Is it really multiplayer, then?
