Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Right now I'm playing old-school ascii roguelikes, specifically I'm playing Sil-Q.

It's set place in LOTR lore-wise and the end goal is to steal a gem from the witch-king's crown with all the wits and weaponry you can muster along the way and on the way back.

It has item improvement and crafting via anvils/smithing-skill along with stealthing past enemies entirely instead of using a bow/sword; stealth in conjunction with a bow/sword works well too.

The races aren't balanced against each other, they're genuine to the literature I think; which I find neat!

Instead of magic, there's great tales of triumph and valor told through song which grant the user with buffs as long as the tale is being sung, depleting voice points as time goes on; pretty flavorful as magic goes.

I heard somewhere that the races are less about picking a specialization and more so a flavorful way of picking your difficulty, I guess I can see it but I'd rather duke it out with a dwarf than prance around like an elf any day, difficulty is the spice of life!

Playing Minecraft as a solo journaling game where I have a character and write from their perspective.  It's actually been a rather enjoyable blend of gaming, creative writing, and a solo RPG.

Now I'm actively playing diablo4. I bought it a month ago and have already played 200 hours. it's super cool! 8) I improved my character a lot with the help of these guys, here's a link to them.

Recently I started playing Atom RPG, an indie take-off on Fallout I & II. It's set in an alternate timeline, in the ruins of the Soviet Union. Turn-based. Lots of fun, but what I'm missing most is the oldies soundtracks from Fallouts III, IV and New Vegas. :-) Oh, and I can't read the signs over the stores, which are in Cyrillic.

Or, I can role-play my character as illiterate. ;-)

Finished ATOM RPG (111 hours!) and just started the sequel, Trudograd. You can import your character from the first game and tweak him a bit.

Overall I really enjoyed ATOM. It was very nostalgic. I had a couple of problems with how the writer decided things would go in some cases. And there are the typical issues you get sometimes. For example, if someone cheats you and you gun them down (quite in-character for the post-apocalyptic wasteland) the entire city goes aggro on you. Whether there were (surviving) witnesses or not.

But overall a great gaming experience, especially at the price.

Been getting caught up on a lot of the content for No Man's Sky that has come out over the years.

The amount of new content is unbelievable - and, AFAIK, it all came with free patches. From what I see, right now it offers more than what was originally promised.

Just finished playing Generation Zero with some friends and we're looking for a new multiplayer game on the PS4/5.  More specifically, we're looking for something that is 4 (or 5) player cooperative, but everything coming out these days seems to be PvEvP.  We just want to play together without having to compete against randos.  Shooter, action game, fantasy, sci-fi, whatever.  Any suggestions?

Spacewar!  61 years since its debut and still fun to play

I'm back to raiding with my guild in WoW... I feel like Al Pacino now.

Beyond that, I'm playing Wartales (brilliant game) and the Dungeon of Naheubeuk (which if you haven't checked out and like turn-based strategy combat - it's hilarious and awesome).

I've been eyeballing Battlebits - played a few rounds, and it's fun. I miss the days of Battlefield 3/4 and Battlefield 1...

Caught up on NMS content, between my frigates and settlement, I'm literally generating more money than I can spend.  :-)

Space Cat Tactics just dropped it's a tactical space combat game with some fun characters and writing, looking forward to starting that.  I also modded the ever loving crap out of CP2077, so I might dive off the deep end of that rabbit hole.

WarTales.  Easily in the top 10 list of best computer games I've ever played.

I got a free copy of Baldur's Gate 3 Deluxe (legally, don't ask) and I played the beginning.

I will say that the opening is something I could have written for a campaign of mine. It is a blast, relentless, everybody against everybody else, and your characters (you with the beginnings of a small party) are thrown around - literally - almost without agency. I like to put my players in situations where they are Indiana Jones and what happens arount them is the boulder. Actually, the beginning reminded me of something similar I pulled a few years ago - when a whole air war arrived out of the blue around their placid flying ship...

The beginning is also Planescape plus Spelljammer - the original ones - plus Dragons out of Top Gun arriving in a way that, I swear, I'll copy at the first opportunity. Some writers just know the classics.

The gameplay uses D&D 5E but the interface and other elements show that the studio behind the project did the Divinity series (esp. Original Sin 2). You can also see elements from Dragon Age: Origins. One thing that surprised me is how good the facial animations are. My character is original and yet she expressed a wide variety of emotion in a credible, naturalistic style. A nice plus. Also, there is an unusual fluidity between gameplay and cut scenes. I can't exactly point my finger on why but no cut scene gave me the idea that the game was stopping cold for exposition.

Is the game woke? Well, I only played for a couple of hours. You can create brutish male thieflings with female voices and even choose the genitals (I didn't check) - but you are not forced to do it. I created a simple female paladin (genitals --> Normal) and this involuntary led to the fact that the strong characters in my beginning were all females. So, in a way, I created wokeness. Nothing else.

It is my understanding that you can fuck a bear. It is also my understanding that the dimensions of this game rival GTA V - so maybe you can also fuck a bear somewhere. Yes, this led to people running in circles with their hair in flames while screaming "DEGENERATES! FURRIES!", because of course America is the only country in the World. However, since America isn't the only country in the World, I'll simply won't fuck a bear. Or maybe I'll do, just to see what happens.

Ah, no, I almost forgot: parts of the game are narrated in voice-over by a Dungeon Master. It is another nice touch but the DM, alas, is female. So I guess that this is the end. The game is doomed.

Meanwhile, the first two hours were a pleasure to play - but I'm one of those degenerate Europeans. Don't forget this when you filter my opinion.

For sure, more to follow.
