Video Games: What are you playing?

I finished Super Robot Wars V on PS4, very enjoyable, would recommend. I may replay it in Game + at some point, there are branching storylines so it would not be the exact same game.

I bought a Nintendo Switch to play the new Advance Wars game on, then Nintendo put an indefinite hold on the release due to the war in the Ukraine. :(

So now I'm playing The Outer Worlds on the switch. For $20, the price was right, and I am enjoying the game. That said, playing the game on any other system would be a big graphical upgrade. The textures on the Switch are not good, and there are no extra shaders or anything. Still, I'm enjoying the game, and would recommend it.

Definitely worth $20 although I didn't really enjoy the entire game because of the issues with the ending. My favorite part of the game was Stellar Bay and it's missions.

All my computer game time is in Incest Simulator... I mean, Crusader Kings 3. Maybe one of the best roleplaying sandboxes there is. Yes, you run a domain, but it's about your ruler and his dynasty. How you stay in power over the generations.

(Re)made the ancient Bactrian Empire from a custom Zoroastrian/Tajik start. It's not the best to start on divine marriage that early with a custom character because the game has no real ancestors for your custom characters, so the genetics are very few (and the offspring are more likely to get Inbred). You pretty much stack the deck for Inbred when you marry your twin children to each other that early in the game. (Can't wait for the Game of Thrones mod for CK3!)

Just waiting on the Iberia flavor pack next... then I'll do the Reconquista game again. I've already done it with Asturias and with the Jimenas (Urraca of Leon), but kicking the Moors out of Spain doesn't get old.

Still playing Warframe from time to time, but I have cut way.  Over a thousand hounds in and I still play a lot of Approaching Infinity (sci-fi rogue like.)

Just picked up Solar Ash since it was on sale, don't know if I'm going to hate it or love it.

Started a new game in Kingdom Come: Deliverance after about 2-3 years of a break.   I'm busy autistically punching cows to power level some stats in skalitz before the real game starts. KO's some random villagers, etc.   Going to try getting high stats without lowering reputation in skalitz, and no killing like some of those really psychotic playthroughs do, like.. really.. maybe its bad that Henry would just punch cows for hours on end as a detour from helping his dad finish the sword, but Henry wouldn't just run around killing all the guards either, lol.

bromides

Spending a lot of time lately in Tom Clancy's The Division 2.

It's a looter shooter set in the United States after a biological weapon attack in NYC destroys the world, which is kind of funny in the time of the COVID plague.

The main play areas are Washington DC and Manhattan (or, the post apocalyptic ruins of those locations).

It's pretty woke, though. The heroic characters definitely have a quota. The main bad guy is a white Caucasian man. Many of the boss fights are against a diverse cast of mostly African Americans or Native Americans, with the occasional Latinx boss. Many of the peon enemies are white.

Having fun with an offensive shield build (using the named holster, Forge, to buff my shield, along with the exotic, Memento).

I'm messing around with a MacOs version of Marathon. Clunky and fun!

Did you just see the review on MandaloreGaming? I had forgotten about this game until I saw that review recently. I had the demo back in the day on my mac.

Good ol Games had a sale up for Wizards Crown for 3$ so grabbed a copy as it is the predecessor to the D&D games SSI made. You can see the elements that carried over quite clearly too.

The sort of free-form class system is interesting. The higher a created characters INT score, the more points they have to buy classes. Quite possible to have a Sorcerer Priest, a Fighter Ranger Thief, etc. Combat is brutal and if go tactical mode it can take forever to finish one combat.

Controls are really simplistic yet cumbersome. But you get used to it eventually. Grind-o-rama though.

Oddly the GoG version does not come with the manual. Which you kinda need for the random copy protection questions.

Solar Ash, love the art, love the story, can't play it even on its easiest settings.  Sigh.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. I like it, although I'm a bit disappointed by the insufficient integration of strategic and RPG elements.

Mostly Elder Scrolls online atm.
Not much else, as I'm running a few Tabletop RPGs atm (online via Discord/Roll20), so that's taking up more of my time.

I wrapped up The Outer Worlds on the Switch. It was a fun ride, but if I ever want to play the game again, I'll do it on PS4. The Switch version of the game just looks terrible, and I can get a complete version of the game on PS4 for what the expansions would cost me on Switch.

I wouldn't say that I'm experiencing buyer's remorse over buying the Switch, but it's close. I'll be a lot happier if and when they release Advance Wars.

I'm playing the original version of Metal Max Xeno on the PS4. Not the neutered "remastered" version. It's a unique game, but not a AAA title. I like it, but I get the impression it's going to be a fairly short ride.

I've preordered the new Saints Row on PS4, and the Boss Factory app just dropped for it. That's basically the character generation section of the game, packaged as a standalone freebie. I spent an hour or so last night working on my Mick Jagger boss. Too bad they don't have a male English voice this time around.

Lurkndog

Do not, do not, do not waste your money on the new Saints Row. It is flat out broken.

I wasn't able to complete the introductory adventure because I couldn't pick up an item. Then when I saved, so that I wouldn't lose an hour's worth of agonizing progress that I achieved without a working targeting reticle, and restarted, I was back at the start of the level.

I kind of like what I see in the game, would have been nice if I could actually play that game.

This is definitely a Cyberpunk 2077 type situation, where the game was just cynically released in an unready state.

I would say circle back around in a year and see if the game is in beta yet. Because what's there now is alpha code.
