This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I just picked up Until Dawn for the PS4. It's essentially a teen horror movie in video game form, cast with digital versions of various actors including Hayden Panettiere, Brett Dalton, Rami Malek and Peter Stormare.

The gameplay is pretty basic, mostly walking around exploring and finding clues, combined with quicktime events at dramatic moments. There are choices you can make along the way that have repercussions later on, and there are multiple possible endings. The nice thing about the branching storylines is that the game makes these explicit, with a "butterfly effect" graphic that appears, and a screen in which you can review the various decision/success/failure points and the effect that they had on the current game, which should make it easy to replay for different results.

I picked it up used for $20, and for that price I am happy with it. The graphics are nice, with good likenesses of the actors, certainly better than recent wrestling games for instance. So far the storyline is decent, and the horror is a blend of creepy tension and scenery, with some action, jump scares, and gore.
If you liked Until Dawn, take a look at Detroit. It's an identical premise only in a sci-fi transhumanist story.

There's also The Council, but this one is slightly different, more of a rpg social simulator than adventure. Pretty good too.

Playing Age of Empires 2, Definitive edition, which is really fun.
A graphically updated and QOL update to the very old strategy, kingdom builder wargame.

The devs reeally have put a lot of work into this.
Sometimes I just like to spectate games and watch people's strategies.
Usually I play SO vs AI, playing various scenarios, quick maps and so on.

It's really cheap too, so great value for money.

Been trying out/going back to other games that I've had for a while such as Stellaris, Witcher 3 and so on with various levels of interest.

Playing AoE 3 Definitive Edition here.
After they botched the release (as they always do, AoE2 DE was the same mess) the game is now in an acceptable state.

OK, I had a look last at AOE3 night (I did get it on release and it was not great).  Seems a lot better.
Will have a play with that at some stage properly.

After a long-overdue PC upgrade, I am playing Rebel Galaxy, which is a fun lightweight space trader/combat game from 2015. It's more cinematic than sim. It was made by a small studio, so the scope of it is not that huge, but that is actually a plus in my book. It isn't a space dogfighter, it has more of a 2d naval feel to the combat. For $20 on Steam, I'm enjoying it.

still playing Warframe daily, love Noita and Approaching Infinity.  Yeah, my favorites are all over the place; 3rd person grinder, 2d platformer/puzzler/crafter, and a 2d rogue-like.

Been playing a lot of Holdfast: Nations at War. I'm also looking at getting back in to Stellaris but it's been a long time since I've played last and apparently there has been many changes.

Currently playing Five Nations. It's a retro RTS that came out this month, with a 2D spaceship aesthetic. The game uses 2D sprites, and the maps are 2D rather than 3D even though the setting is space combat so there are unrealistic situations like walls in space and such. The playable sides are the five nations of the title: the United Earth Federation (composed of humans and SIRI-like AI helpers), the Sylon Collective (composed of mind uploads united into a swarm intelligence), the Athrael Theocracy (roswell greys with a history channel aesthetic), the Thorun Empire (a medieval civilization bootstrapped by the tech of alien invaders), and the Zhogarn (SST-style bugs). Pretty standard scifi stuff.

I've just started playing 'Assassin's Creed Odyssey - Ultimate Edition'... I only bought it because it was 75% off on Humble Store!
Seems a fun game but already a bit repetitive.
