This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What do I need next for my Video game den?

Quote from: Gabriel2;754960What is the rationale for the model 2 genesis and a model 3 being hooked up simultaneously?  Or is the model 3 just up there for cute factor?

It's actually just the model 3 hooked up at the moment. The model 2 is having some shorting issues. After the second time it reset in the middle of Castle of Illusion I pulled out the 3 to use until I have time to troubleshoot the 2.

What to the Atari 2600s go for these days? I'd aim for one of those, followed by an Intellivision.  Of course, an Intellivision would have to have Advanced Dungeons and Dragons....

Cheap. For a purely functional one maybe $20-$30. For a nice one ~$40-$50.

Good. That's about the same price I paid a decade ago for ours.  Go get one, man.

Eh, it was before my time and I honestly don't enjoy the atari games I have played that much.

Ahh, Genesis, the Voltron of consoles...

You need to attach X-Band/Telemodem, 4-Play Adaptor, Activator, Menacer, and leave a Power Converter +3-D goggles conspicuously attached within frame.

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Now you need Silpheed and Dark Wizard.

I was playing Silpheed last night.  It was probably the shmup I played the most back in the day.  I practiced enough that I could get to the final boss without continuing.  But, for some reason, no matter how many antimattter bombs I pumped into that space station of death, I could never finish it.  I'm no where near that level of ability anymore, though.  Last night it took all 5 of my continues just to get to stage 7.  I was a bit bummed out I didn't make it to the giant space battle which I think is on stage 8.

Dark Wizard to this day cries out in the dark to have me play. That music alone!
