Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Just seeing if anyone else is playing this.  I started playing as a break from WoW, and now I think I's addictimacated. My Ferox just got a few upgrades and I's a mad gunnin' fool.

Rode me some shotgun on a Level 3 Caldari Navy Security mission... woot! Big money...

With salvaging I can pull 2 mil ISK a mission with a little luck. One day I just might be able to afford a Battleship...

I've got t2 rails on my Corm and gimme a couple weeks and I might get them on the Ferox. But for right now I'm working mining/manufacturing skills as a secondary cash cow. Gonna put my pod into a barge if it keels me.

Share the love...:D

Bah, I will talk to myself then!! Fie upon thee non-spacey-buccaneerooning types then!

It occured to me today, non-physisist that I am, that for all the care and effort that went into EvE's economic system, and for all the thought that went into their game play (what with the missions, mining, manufacturing, inventing, exploring, archeology....and probably more... sub 'classes' and 117 years worth of skill training to perform to do all of it!!!) ...

They don't use anything resembling real space type physics. If you want to stop going somewhere you turn the engine off, rail guns and conventional projectiles fire at more or less the same range as lasers... when in reality they should fire 'infinite' distances, with decreasing probability of hitting (while lasers, what???, attenuate? Lose damage over range?) and Missles just 'poof' away if they run out of juice before hitting their target.

It's all very odd from a space minded perspective.  Given the details of everything else (excepting materials sciences.... Tritaniam mineral mined from Veldspar asteroids with a WTF for the win anyone?;) ) is all just a bit odd...

I nearly started playing this when it first came out, but realised I didnt have the time. I looked at it later and found there were some notable groups of "Podders", which seem to be the Eve equivalent of high level corpse camping lamers, which rather put me off as I'd had enough of respawn campers playing online FPSes.
WoW has rather failed to wow me, so I might give Eve another look.

I'm intrigued by what I've seen of this game, but alas, I'm a Mac daddy, and like most MMORPGs, EVE Online is PC only. Probably for the best, considering what a time sink it would be. I'll stick with WoW and SL.

I use a Mac laptop, so I know some of your pain there.  Planning for an upcoming trip I realized I might wind up bringing TWO laptops... one for EvE

As for the PvP aspect: I've gathered it's something of an issue, but if you stick to the starter 'NPC' corporations and heavily trafficed 'high security' systems its almost non-existant. I say almost because there are some fairly transparent traps the lamers use to 'legally' kill players in High Sec.  Since I went back to the NPC corporations I haven't even been shot at, going on two months now... and I've flown through lowsec areas.

Unlike WoW there is no 'non-PvP' option, though, you are right. If you are in low sec, or in a corp with a war declared you are a legal target by anyone who wants a go.  Of course, I've learned the ways 'around' this.  I think. :keke:
