This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

You can also murder people and build giant fighting robots. Makes no difference in the game mechanics, but those are reputation-intensive activities with big risk exposure. I'm pretty sure the game I eavesdropped on was all about opening a noodle shop.

Like so many things in life, this either strikes you as fun and interesting or it doesn't.

The game I played at Dragonmeet a couple of years back was about making oboes.  It got pretty vicious.

That was a fun game. "Music instrument-making MRCZ" has become a pretty common FreeMarket trope over the course of the game's development, as has "gamer MRCZ" and the ever-popular meme of "death artist."

I can totally see the RPGsite crowd getting into this game.

I am both intrigued and repulsed. This might be the Angelina Jolie of RPGs.

All of the fiddly bits look pretty nifty, but I can't get my dusty old Traveller brain around the idea of something that looks like a Deluxe Illumaniti boxed set being a RPG. However, being a huge Paranoia fan, the cover immediately grabbed me. It has that vibe.

Still......... how much does this bugger cost? I imagine quite a bit, what with all the card packs and such.

Angelina? Maybe Lady Gaga with a positronic brain...either way, it's a response that's entirely justified (and desired by Luke and myself).

It's not going to appeal to you if you want space western/trading games like Traveler or Star Frontiers. There are no spaceships (that the players have access to) or aliens (other than the freemers themselves).

It's $75 + s/h. Direct sales only, so you can either get it via our website or at conventions. You can also order the PDF, which is full color, 150 pages.

Well, I'm not intrigued by Lady Gaga, just repulsed. Still, feel free to use that for an advertising blurb if you like - I know my opinions carry a lot of weight in the RPG community. :)

Unfortunately, I'm just intrigued. However, I'd want the box set, and I don't feel that I have an extra $75 for it at the moment. If ya'all ever put any on sale and I hear about it though, I'd be very tempted. That kind of thing sounds like it'd be right up the alley of my GF's teen and his best friend that I'm running things for these days. Maybe even my GF as well.

If the box ever makes its way to Europe, I will certainly consider buying it - I'm really intrigued as well and the box looks amazing... I just don't feel like adding more than 50 percent to a pretty expensive box for s&h, not right now at least. So Jared, please give a shout if you ever bring some boxes to Europe.

Shipping a case of FM (six boxed sets) to Europe: $132.00
Shipping Jared to Europe: $More than that.

But I'd love to jaunt over to the Old Country, btw. Just sayin'... I mean, my last name? Surely you can write a grant proposal for a cross-cultural exchange.

If you assume people here won't give it a fair deal then you would be mistaken.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

I'm very tempted. How limited is the "limited" box set? I can't justify the cost currently, but perhaps in a couple weeks that would change as long as you still have box sets left.

We made 1,000. That's it! We've already sold through a third of them.

Sigmund

Gah, being a responsible adult sucks. I'm gonna try to set aside the money, this game really looks kinda fun.
