This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

DOAX3 will not be officially released outside of Asia due to fear of SJWs

For a more holistic take on this issue, I refer you to Sargon of Akkad's video.

The short version of the story is that Koei Tecmo announced that DOAX3 will not be released outside of its domestic release for Asian markets, despite having a full English option within the game itself. When pressed on their Facebook page for why that was, they admitted that it was because they didn't want to deal with the controversy about how women are depicted in games.

Predictably, people jumped in to say that this wasn't really censorship, because Koei Tecmo made their own decisions, and besides, they're probably lying anyway, and the real reason is just that they don't think that the game will sell well over here. (Naturally, some other assholes flat-out declared that this was a victory, since games like these help create a culture of "dehumanizing women").

Ironically, that line of bullshit was undercut when Play-Asia announced that they'd make the game available for importing, the response to which was an outpouring of tweets from people saying how awful Play-Asia was, and how they'd never buy anything from them again, etc. Luckily, Play-Asia's response has been to troll the promises to boycott them. (Some assholes have gone further and suggested that this is a conspiracy, with Koei Tecmo and Play-Asia acting in cahoots to push foreign sales without having to localize.)

Needless to say, the nature and content of the game itself are less important than the fact that if we believe Koei Tecmo, then the SJWs are creating a chilling effect that's causing the very thing that they claim (rather disingenuously, in my opinion) they don't want: to take away games, or rather, to make it more difficult to purchase/acquire games that they don't approve of.
"...player narration and DM fiat fall apart whenever there's anything less than an incredibly high level of trust for the DM. The general trend of D&D's design up through the end of 4e is to erase dependence on player-DM trust as much as possible, not to create antagonism, but to insulate both sides from it when it appears." - Brandes Stoddard

I think this whole thing is half not wanting to yet the sjw bloodsport focused on them and half know that gamers, the people whom actually buy games, will shell out money just to piss of said sjw types.

So it's a win win.

As a matter of principle I now find myself constantly taking heat for defending the existence of products I would never personally consume.

Life was easier and clearer when I was an SJW with a cozy ideology of pseudo-empirical righteous indignation, yet I somehow believed it was the reverse.

Who knows which of my "absolute truths" I'll be questioning 10 years from now?

This had been nothing short than a boost to gamergate.  It push the regressive SJWs to the defensive side and woke up even more people.

sjwland just did a favor to a shitty game. i wish sega would pull a similar stunt with Virtua Fighter so we can finally get a fighting game that's decent

Supposedly a translation of japanese commenters on the matter. i got a few laughs out of gems like:

"Those foreign fuckers enjoy ass to mouth porn, but this game is TOO MUCH"
