Question about Zombies - the board game

So played my first game of Zombies the other night with the 3.5 card expansion.

In the rules it says that you can play an event card at anytime, unless the card says otherwise.

There is one card.  Not sure if it's from the original box or the expansion but it's entitled something like "Where's that noise coming from?"  The card says that you get to move every zombie off the map tile you are on and put them on any adjacent tile.

So can you during your movie phase move one square move to a new map tile.  Play the card to boot the zombies off and then continue the move?

By the rules it seems this is allowed however in play it really feels cheap.  Specially when the card is saved until the last helicopter square.  Feels like a very cheese way to win.  I should say that this isn't how the game was won as it ended one turn before this happened but this was the next players move.

It's only as cheesey as saving the 'return to town square' effect card until someone is on the helicopter square.... The only time anyone has won by getting to the helicopter in our experience is when everybody else is completely bored and lets them win.

That card never came up for us.  There were many cases of having one player control the movement of another or aborting someone's turn entirly but never that one.

A few people came close to winning by zombie count but ultimately they'd hit about 20 zombies and then every other player would hammer them with cards leading to their death and loss of half the zombie count.

Odd since once you get near to the total, if players hammer you with cards (most force you to fight zombies) it can actually accelerate your win, if you successfully defeat the zombies they throw at you.

That's true, but usually they did it in such a fashion that the'd take away the bullets and basically cripple you first.  The most loved card was one that made you have to fight the same zombie over again before defeating it.  So worse case you die, best case you still only get 1 zombie kill.

One thing though I need to pick up more zombies.  In a 3 player game the standard zombies weren't enough.  Specially towards the end people kept bringing out cards allowing you to fill up entire squares or place 10 zombies randomly when there were few to none zombies left to deploy.
