Title: Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Just how railroaded is it?

Is it more so than the typical "published adventure" in its tabletop version?

I have 5 of the 6 modules (1 being quite expensive out of print) and it doesn't look railroaded to me, probably the opposite. But I have not played the pen and paper version.
I've played the PC version and even that is not completely railroaded but has some railroad aspects.

I'd say it is only railroaded in the sense that it is organized into chapters, and you have to do certain things within each chapter to proceed to the next one.
However, within each chapter, you are relatively free to do whatever you want or in what order you want to do things.

The first few hours are very railroaded, but that's basically the "tutorial area" + first bigger dungeon so you get your "kingdom".

Good to know. I had heard it compared to "Pillars of Eternity" and as being more restrictive.
As I have not played either before I had no frame of reference.

Are you referring primarily to the pen and paper 6 modules or the video game?

The video game at this point. Haven't tried the pen & paper version. Seems rule heavy.

I love the video game and have it in my top 12 personal "Hall of Fame" on Steam. I'm on my 3rd playthrough. There is a lot of depth in gear, character customization, etc. The story is probably not quite as good as Baldur's Gate II or Planescape: Torment, but otherwise the game is very good. The only thing I hate is the final dungeon. It's a giant pain in the rear.
