Title: Oblivion mods
Post by: darkfire on March 31, 2006, 11:28:47 AM
So what ya using?

Got Adventurers (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=183) (lots of misc tweaks, including Guild Storage, very handy)

A new way of leveling (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=171), basically your stats improve in realtime as your skills improve and after 10 stat increases your level goes up.

One which removes all the town fast travel markers (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=160) so you can still fast travel, but are forced to find the town first.

No Pyschic (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=129) Guards, bloody bastards where just a little too effecient

Then an all eyes (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=26) mod and an no vamp (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=62) face for cosmetics.

Lastly a quickstart (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=74) mod so that I don't have to go through the tutorial every time

I'm not using any mods right now, just enjoying the game as is.

I may play with some mods after I have finished the game once the normal way but I want to play it as is for now.

To each their own though I'd recommend some of the cosmetic mods then, like natural Faces (http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=1965)

One of the first I downloaded was to make the game time scale real time (a day lasting 24 hours instead of 40 minutes).

I haven't installed any major gameplay-changing mods, myself, but have installed a whole ton of tweak and cosmetic mods.

(1) The natural faces, above, is great - people look waaay better.  I got this in a pack along wtih a large assortment of eyes.

(2) BTMod (http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=330994), which expands the area of and reduces the font for your skills, equipment, maps, journal, etc.

(3) Call Steed & Saddlebags (http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=330899) because it sucks when you forget where you parked.

(4) The color map mod (http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=336789) which is really just prettier.

(5) The Distant Terrain mod (http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=328524), which makes distant ground look more like ground and less like soup.  Seriously, everyone should get this mod if nothing else; there's zero performance hit for a huge benefit.

None of these change the gameplay at all except maybe Call Steed.  Most of them are purely cosmetic and do nothing but make an already-gorgeous game look even prettier.

I like the sound of most of those, I will have to try them.
I have to agree, tracking down your horse can be a pain.  Even when its a legal horse, it wanders off reasonably far.
It doesn't help that I have no sense of direction and get lost easily.

I lose my horse all the time :)  I used to fast-travel to a city just to get him parked outside the gate when I lost track of him.

I do like that it will report a stolen horse has returned to its home though.  I stol e one from the stables where you take the amulet you get in the intro and it made its way home from across the world after I lost track of it.

Actually the a nude mod was out within half a day of the games release, the modder discovered the nude mesh that Oblivion ships with in the constructers kit.

The underwear is pretty ugly, its like they sat down and deliberately made is as ghastly as possible ;)

Not a full nudity mod, though. Rumors claim it was actually found hidden within Oblivion's data files and is thus a sort of "Hot Coffee." Or rather, "Tepid Coffee," in that particular case...

Here's the scroll (http://s13.invisionfree.com/Kaleem/index.php?showtopic=579) where you'll find it, but be warned, if you belong to a religious order offended by naked CGI boobies, you may want to make sure the nun mother do not see you.

Ah, you might want to list that link as being NWS, it has two very large pics, also worth noting that its an improved version of the original mesh, the original was pretty ugly (umm, not that I've sat and compared those mods, no siree) and that they're already a number of underwear mods as well :heh:

My latest favourite is Fog Remover (http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=2573) this little mod gave me a hugely noticable increase in smoothness, I was really slowing down in dungeons and other zones with fog and this fixes that right up.

Also Conflict detector (http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=2579) is proving handy with all the mods I'm loading up.
