This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

This should be a relatively simple one: What files do I need to copy where in order to transfer a save-game from one computer to another?

Just the save game folder for oblivion in your 'my documents' directory.  YOu really only need the save folder inside of it but just copy the whole thing it's easier.

Ok, thanks. My main game is on my laptop, and I suddenly realized (when I installed the game on the desktop) that there was all this dialogue that I had been missing out on - all dialogue that isn't subtitled doesn't appear on the laptop game, for some weird reason. Everything else runs just fine.

That's weird.  I seem to recal a setting to toggle subtitles so maybe that's all you've done on your laptop is turn that off.

I don't think so, but maybe turning them on will at least make it less of an annoyance, if I at least can see what they're saying, even if I can't hear it.

If you're talking about NPCs chatting with each others, then you only get the subtitles if you're nearby when they start talking (and the subtitles continue to be displayed until the conversation is over, even if you have moved out of hearing range, as long as you stay in the same cell).

Yeah, those are what I'm talking about. On the laptop though, I don't get the sound from them talking to each other, only the subtitles.

Oh that conversation.  I have a feeling it could be related to the lack of audio channels on the laptop.  I know at home the conversational sounds are positional so if I'm facing to the side, the sound comes from the side.  Could be the lack of positional sound on the laptop, but again just a guess.  May even be a performance tweak some where.

I doubt it's that, since virtually all sound in the game is positional (except the music I guess).
Next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways, it's still rock and roll to me.

You can talk all you want about theory, craft, or whatever. But in the end, it's still just new ways of looking at people playing make-believe and having a good time with their friends. Intellectualize or analyze all you want, but we've been playing the same game since we were 2 years old. We just have shinier books, spend more money, and use bigger words now.

Like I said just grasping.  Though perhaps he's missing other sound and didn't notice it as well.
