This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you're stupid, your PC will die.  If you're an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you're unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC's die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

This is not painting and I apologize for that, but...

I picked up a Cmdr. Shadowsun from GW in finecast because that's all they make anymore.  It was terrible.

...anyway...

I found an incomplete one on ebay - in metal - for $15 (negotiated).  Bought it, tacked the head (which fortunately had no bubbles) from the finecast onto it.  IDGAF about the drones, so, now I have a metal Shadowsun.  I'll post up some pics or something when I get her assembled and painted.  The one I bought had a terrible, terrible paintjob that I had to SG off first.

Breaking news:  Finecast is DEAD
http://natfka.blogspot.ca/2013/11/finecast-is-dead-more-confirmations-on.html

Well, breaking Internet rumour at least, though not a surprising result of the "failcast" debacle.

Honestly I don't know that they can salvage minis with plastic.  I've got the Space Hulk 3e set and the plastic minis in it are very nice, so perhaps they can.

One thing I think we can all be certain of is that the plastic will cost 10-20% more than it currently does.  Look forward to paying $35 for a single LotR character figure.

(Or don't; I'm done buying GW products new)

I liked the plastic Skaven they did, but yeah, GW lost me as a customer this year as well, though I still grab some of thier products from secondary sources until Ive completed my Skaven army. After that thinking of giving Mantic the majority of my business. Didn't like thier elves initially (mostly the cone helmets, which turned me off of GWs elves initially as well), but thier Twilight Kin look pretty cool.

Had great success this weekend stripping some old space dwarves using 'Purple Power'.  I haven't been this jazzed to paint in ages!

Looking forward to some games of Nuclear Renaissance (from Ramshackle Games) using my soon-to-be-painted gang of space-dwarf miners, including a couple of 4x4s and some construction mechs.

Okay I've had a hell of a time getting a routine down but I've got a few more thinks on my plate.

Someone at my FLGS is selling a bunch of IG so I got two squads of Karzkin storm troopers I'll probably run as veterans with carapace armor (because Stormtroopers are stupid expencive).

I also got a basilisk. All for basically 50% retail.

I found a metal Commander Shadowsun for $20 on eBay; bought her, stripped it, popped the head off and reused the plastic (excuse me, Finecast) head from the one I bought directly from GW, so hopefully I can get that painted in an appreciable amount of time.

Very nice.

On the one hand, this month has been a bit of a bust for me. Started a job that was supposed to take a week and turned into 2, then 3, now 4, with tomorrow likely being the last day. House restoration, and Ive frankly come home far too exhausted for any kind of art. So my Maulerfiend sits accusingly on my desk next to a package of green stuff and some new brushes and I long to verminize him and let loose my Skaven Warlord/Fellblade/Bonebreaker combo.

OTOH, its been a rather fruitful month for purchases. I got the Celestial Hurricanum parts from Hoard of Bits to make my giant-rat-drawn Warpfire Cannon and Chaos Chariot pieces to to make a War-Litter mount, as well as a full unit of Plage Monks bits, all for under 50 bucks. I found Nezumi Samurai and Ashigaru Heads for my Eshin army on EBay for a pittance.

I got a new copy of WFB 3rd Edition plus about 50 issues of White Dwarf from the late 80s/early 90s, All 5 editions of WH40K, including Rogue Trader, the most recent codexes for Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Dark Eldar, Tyranids, and Chaos Daemons, as well as the newest FB army books for Ogre Kingdoms, Dark Elves, and Chaos Warriors, and a few other random books like Storm of Chaos, Lustroa, etc, all from a guy on Craigslist for 100 bucks (his wife was making him get rid of them, and his matriarchal oppression was my parasitical joy).
And I got a complete set of the Myeri Marsh Demons of Fimm MCCool from the Oldhammer Forums (these plus 1 box of Gnoblars will kick off my Pgre Kingdoms back-up army, while Ill be splitting my Skaven into themed Eshin and Pestilence armies). For anyone who hasn't seen these, they are gorgeous pewter Fimir-like creatures with a heavy Dark Crystal influence.
