This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). To continue Piestro's threads, this month I am finally tackling on Cthulhu.  Here is the very first base prime coat.  I haven't really seen a purple scheme yet.

D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

I actually used a purple base for mine (Squid ink), but worked up towards green.

Okay plans for this month:

Imperial guard scout sentinel
Imperial Guard mortar team

At that point I'll have a 1,000 Pts of guard and might take a break. Some of the bones have caught my eye so I might spend a couple weeks painting those, we'll see :)

Just scored some Ral Partha Dragonlance minis off eBay.

Plans are adjusting...

Well, almost done.  Just some touch up stuff left

That was such a fun model to paint. Can't wait till I get my Chimera from the latest Bones Kickstarter.

In the meantime, I just got a Celestial Hurricanum!

I'm going to be combining it with a Warplightning Cannon for some crazy Skaven goodness :D

Not a huge fan of the bones so far. The paint doesn't "stick". It's like painting glass and I feel like I'm glopping it on to get coverage.

I'm using citidel paints.

An I doing something wrong?

Are you priming them first?

Citadel might not be the best choice overall just because they are watered down enough to be useable out of the bottle on Warhammer minis, and Bones are water-resistant. I've had better luck with Vallejo paints.

I prime the smaller figures, but with Cthulhu I just did a series of about 8 progressively-thinner coats.

Sacrosanct

If you look at the first Cthulhu pic, you can see how it's not an even coat, and that's after I used Army Painter White.  I find that to be the best primer.  so it took two, but you can see from the final one that it turned out OK.  At least I think so.

Plans for Nov 2013:

Painting station

I haven't done much painting for a while. I think it's because setup is too cumbersome. So, my plan is to extract a teeny project from the bits box along with the tools needed to complete it and bundle it all together. Concordantly, I'm going to spurge on some quality supplies so I can do stuff FASTER.

Stripped and ready to go. Probably won't get to these guys this month as I need some more paint and that'll probably wait until next month.
