Really enjoying the mechanics of Dungeon of the Endless, as well as the look and innovation of Endless Legend.

Anyone else play those? I'd love to get a multiplayer game up at some point or another.

Yeah, I played them both, just couldn't get into either one.

Dungeons of the Endless was just a goofy roguelike...roguelikes work (for me) in fantasy, but not so much in sci-fi. At least, that's what i thought the problem was until I played Approaching Infinity, which is a vastly superior roguelike in my opinion.

Endless Legend is fantasy, but i just couldn't shake the sci-fi feel. I really kept expecting the elves to start whipping out blaster rifles while an army of droids emerges from an enemy hive city. I must have spent 8 hours playing, asking myself over and over again "why don't I like this game?". Just didn't "get" it, though I've played many a 4xer before.

A nice education blog.

I just couldn't get in to Endless Legend.  I spent a couple hours playing it and uninstalled it with an unsatisfied feeling.  The changes from a "typical" fantasy strategy game were odd, the strange terminology ("Dust" instead of "gold", for example,) left me cold, and I just didn't like the overall feel.

I picked up the 3 "Endless" games during the Steam Summer Sale. I've only played the two 4x titles a few hours but I'm liking their style. The slight twists on the "standard" (read as Civ-like) mechanics are welcome. Their art and world-building have a very Moebius/Metal Hulant feel which I dig very much. Not your standard stuff.

Played Dungeon of the Endless a few minutes. Seemed OK. I randomized the adventurers and got the flame thrower and medic characters from Team Fortress which was a bit jarring. Again an innovative take on the typical rogue-like dungeon exploration genre. I have a lot of other games to try out (went nuts on the SSS purchases) before I'll probably play it again though.

Sounds like the vibe you got is intentional on the part of the developers. Having got into the game more some of the lore is that the Vaulters are apparently the descendents of a crew from a crashed spaceship. The next (free) DLC reportedly will also have an end quest of finding a crashed ship so your faction can escape the doomed planet. Don't know if its suppose to be the one the Vaulters crashed in or a different one.

I think the planet Endless Legend is set on is a planet that can be found in Endless Space as well.

Pretty sure you're correct on all counts.

Played Endless Space for a while. It's good, but something felt missing. Don't know exactly what.
May I say that? Yes, I may say that!
