SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anyone want to recommended good, free vidoe games out there on the Internet that most people haven't heard of? I'm not talking Abandonware, I'm talking honestly good freeware games among all the drek.

America's Army is a pretty good realistic, squad-based shooter.  Sure it's a recruiting tool, but that doesn't stop it from being a good game.
I have a theory, it could be witches, some evil witches!
Which is ridiculous \'cause witches they were persecuted Wicca good and love the earth and women power and I'll be over here.

Fan of the X-Com series?  Go get Xenocide.

America's Army rocks, too.  I have not fired it up in a few weeks, but it is always on my desktop, calling to me...

Be careful, and don't let the stick-figure graphics fool you. This game can be addictive:

Next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways, it's still rock and roll to me.

You can talk all you want about theory, craft, or whatever. But in the end, it's still just new ways of looking at people playing make-believe and having a good time with their friends. Intellectualize or analyze all you want, but we've been playing the same game since we were 2 years old. We just have shinier books, spend more money, and use bigger words now.

Achilles

Maybe not neglected, but Kingdom of Loathing is awesome.  As is Nation States.

For an old-school MMORPG, Rubies of Eventide is pretty good.  Lots and lots of content.  The combat system is a bit funky, but it's easy to get used to.
