This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Next month a new expansion for FF XI is due to be released, and it'll have two, possibly three new jobs/classes available- Corsair (pirates, baby!), Blue Mage (monster magic), and if the rumours are correct, Puppetmaster.

I've been playing WoW, but lost interest the past couple of weeks.  So I'm taking a bit of a breather.  I'd like to play DDO.  I can't justify the cost.

McGuffin

I play WoW and have seriously considered CoH, but doubt I have the extra time to devote to it.

Reading "Computer Games" mag and came across a 2 page article on warhammer online....looks  interesting, only thing i dont know if i like is its pvp and the way they talk, main cities can be taken over..you fight, you take it over for 24 hours then it pops back to original control...

City of Heroes all the way, baby.  In what other MMO can you meet David Hasselhof?

With a couple of friends I took "The Hooded Stoat" through the Synapse task force yesterday.  A bit long and I never want to see another Clockwork again as long as I live, but Babbage and the final mission made it worthwhile

Yeah it's on my radar but from the sounds of it it's more like Warhammer Fantasy Battle then Warhammer RPG.  So instead of adventuring around and exploring it's more about picking a side and fighting it out with the other.  Hopefully this is the end game content and not the entire content.  If it is, that's such a waste of the Warhammer world.

That's my concern as well.  There's so much more to the Warhammer world than two armies duking it out.  If done right, it could be a very deep and immersive MMORPG.

I'm rather old-school in that I play Ultima Online (in 2D mode), and personally loathe 3D games (especially first person or "over the shoulder" ones) and one where PvP is mandatory (tend to have low-end computers - back using a 1.4 Mhz after a main board failure, and every MUD I ever played in the 90s was destroyed by PvP being introduced, typically folding within 2-4 weeks after PvP was added). I only started playing after Age of Shadows, so don't have the baggage that the "give us a Pre-Trammel Shard" misanthropes have in their psyche. I perfer trying to forge non-typical templates into effective PvMer (solo or group, but predominantly the latter), than being "uber-equipment-obsessed" like many others - and plans for later this year will end up capping the benefits of those uber-suits, rewarding my maverick tendencies.

About all use I have for the newer MMOs are to watch videos like THIS

My machine is also too old to run the new games, which is probably a good thing as I'd probably be divorced by my wife if I played like I used to.....but the pull of EQI is strong...so strong.

I'm hoping to play DDO, although I don't know if it's going to be necessary to upgrade my machine to play it.  I'm hoping it won't.

I'm tempted by that Auto Assault one, as I'm an old-time Car Wars fan, but we'll see how the reviews come out.

DDO is great - if you have the time to set asside the time to form a group and go adventuring.

Auto Assault I was in the beta it is craptastical.  Graphics are nothing special gameplay/controls suck and everything else is mediocre.  It'd be an ok game if it was under the same pricing scheme as Guild wars (aka free).  But for a monthly fee it's soooo not worth it.
